why would someone put forth all this effort to hurry up and graduate all of a sudden, just to go to second-rate university in the same town????

If living at home is his priority, then why does he have to graduate early? No matter what Porter is feeding him, he can't possibly think that Memphis football is worth all this.....

Well, Rucker just talked to Ballentine's coach on the radio and his coach said Ballentine was not at school today. Then Rucker tweeted this:

Lonnie Ballentine's head coach just told us he was down to UT, Memphis, Arkansas, Ole Miss. Thinks the player is visiting Knoxville today.

Ballentine never said he wasn't coming. Just said he might not.

Why in the heck would the kid come out a year early to play at Memphis???? Supposedly was going to stay in HS a year to get better offers then he decides to go early to freaking Memphis? I would hate to see Ballentine at another SEC program but I could at least comprehend the thinking behind that.

You are correct! U of M is my alma mater as well, but I don't think this would be a good decision for his football future. Regardless if he chooses UT or not, I can't imagine him coming out early and going to Memphis (for football). I hope he is a VOL. :)

BTW, looking forward to tonight!

well, he didnt make it to knoxville today, he's contemplating visiting tomorrow...

Not to be negative, really. He is a 17 year old 195lb DB/WR/RB/ATH/LB who isn't close to the size he may be at 20 or 21. Would be 2-3 years away from getting on the field anyway in my opinion. Don't see him lining up against Bama with 3 years of high school experieence. Would like to have him but I think we are looking for some commits so badly that we here on the board are making a big deal out of each possible recruit right now.

17 year old kid to Memphis, It's really not that big of a deal in late March. JMO GBO
