'10 TN DB Lonnie Ballentine (Announcing 3/29)

Not to be negative, really. He is a 17 year old 195lb DB/WR/RB/ATH/LB who isn't close to the size he may be at 20 or 21. Would be 2-3 years away from getting on the field anyway in my opinion. Don't see him lining up against Bama with 3 years of high school experieence. Would like to have him but I think we are looking for some commits so badly that we here on the board are making a big deal out of each possible recruit right now.

17 year old kid to Memphis, It's really not that big of a deal in late March. JMO GBO

Ballentine is a player, that's why he has offers from Bama and LSU. He could get on the field as a RS Frosh or Soph.

Southeast Recruiting Blog - ESPN

"Ballentine likely will sign with Tennessee, Memphis or Arkansas at 12:30 ET on Monday at Southwind High School. Alabama and LSU are also programs that had offers on the table for him in the 2011 class."

picking UT seems highly unlikely. for the most part, we know if a kid is going to pick UT. when there is no talk going on, not a good sign.

What time is he going to announce his decision? Did he make the trip to UT this weekend? We need some positive news for he program. Hopefully he decides UT.

I'm not surprised, makes way more sense that he's going to tiger high since he's graduating early

Hope you r wrong...His coach didn't have a clue where he would end up as of Friday...But was said to have been here in Knoxville over the weekend...We will see I guess

Plus with his talent he would start next year at Memphis where at UT or another SEC school would not be a starter.

He's set to announce his decision Monday at 1:30, and Brent Hubbs of VolQuest.com writes that the Memphis, Tenn., product already has his decision made.

He's considering the hometown Tigers, but is a more likely candidate for Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas or Alabama. Tennessee coach Derek Dooley can't speak about Ballentine directly, but he told the Knoxville News Sentinel a recruit playing defensive back has a better chance of skipping his senior year and contributing early.
