I hope this is a joke, but if not...he's in high school and has added value. You have 13 posts. Shame on you for wasting a post on one like this.

Go Ooltewahvol!

I don't understand why people say that about ESPN. How many people here are actually scouts that can cogently rank a players skill?

Some argue that ESPN may be more accurate because the rankings come out later, leaving more time for evaluation. Also, this list will change as the season moves along.

Rivals is probably the best, but I'm just saying, don't just hate on it because some of your "favorite" recruits didn't get the best possible ranking. Chances are the scouts at ESPN know more than the average guy on this board.

I would put a couple of guys on here's ability to rank the players much higher than ESPN's. Give me my pick of guys and I'd trust it more than ESPN's ranking any day. I'm sorry, but they just dropped the ball this year. There is very little they actually got right and it has nothing to do with where UT prospects are ranked. The rest were so bad, I honestly didn't even invest the time to see where our commits were ranked.

Have you ever seen Jacques play? And more than a few plays? There's not that much film out there I'm aware of.

I've seen him up close and personal. He had one of his better games of last year against my team IIRC.

Powell is a top 5 type talent though. Smith is good, but he's not that good.

I don't know much about Powell - I'm guessing due to his size he has a higher ceiling - but Jacques is one of the more college ready players (especially for his position) in high school as a junior.

If it says anything, Powell is being recruited to play both DE and TE by Florida and USC. He even played MLB when he was at USC's camp. He's pretty college ready as well. He's a freak athletically with a 4.5 40 and a 37 inch vertical. Even the guys on Rivals said he looked like he was "chiseled out of marble".

I'm glad we've got Jacques and he's a great player, but having him above Powell just isn't right.

I love Jacques and think he will be a great player but Ronald Powell is by far the better player and more ready to play in college. He's not rated higher because he has a higher ceiling, which is one of the reasons, but because he has been dominate in the most competetive camps, and could be a top player at the defensive end, tight end, and linebacker positions.

How does being more college ready, and having a higher ceiling be a reason why you are not rated higher?
