I'm really excited about this guy. When Orgeron get his hands on him he'll be a beast. Has "freshman all american", like Kiffin said in his opening press conference, written all over him.

Also i love some of the things he said to KNS. Some quotes:

Smith was clear; UT coaches don’t have to worry about the Crimson Tide.

“Oh no, not at all,” Smith said when asked if he was interested in Alabama. “That’s probably the last place on earth that I’d go to college.

Smith has already started recruiting other prospects to UT, namely offensive lineman James Stone from Maplewood High School. Stone is likely Smith’s top competition to be named the state’s top prospect.

“I try to persuade them over a little bit, just to see the good sides about Tennessee and the negative about the other schools that I’ve seen already,” Smith said. “I let them know in advance without taking the trips.”

Everyone says Scout is a bunch of tools, and Rivals is the "real" recruiting service...so what do you guys make of Jacques being a five star on Scout and 59 on Rivals?

scout is usually pretty spot on for individual reviews, while Rivals.com is a better "top 100" "top 250" list. Rivals also having a much superior website design doesnt hurt

Everyone here doesn't like Scout because thier UT site sucks. I do think they have good individual player profiles and do a good job of covering recruiting for some other schools like ND, LSU, Auburn, Clemson........ and a several others.

They just get a bad rap here because Rivals is 10x better at covering the Vols.

Well that means a lot if you're a VOL fan but I try to read up on as many recruiting (Free) sources as I can to get a better picture of what is going on in recruiting.

Smith is an amazing talent. I've seen him play twice.

I don't give a damn about Rivals or Scout, he'll be a helluva player here.

I just hope he is not Chris Donald. Great measurables, raw talent, a freak athletically. But a victim of weak competition and vanilla HS defensive schemes.

Now that sounds like my kind of Vol! The more I read about this kid, the more farred up I get! JS could very well be the next EB as far a cult like status. Second only to Wilks, of course.:)

Lol - since when is 5A weak competition? And I'm not sure what more they can ask him to do scheme wise - he pretty much pancakes the tackles (literally) at the beginning of the play or throws them on the ground because he's some much quicker/stronger and then he's at the QB/RB for a loss.

met this kid at division 1aa championship game . every answer to every question i ask him was yes sir no sir .one of his teachers lives across the street from me she says he is the same all the time. says he works hard in the class room as well as on the field.what a great rep for our university.says he prays for the other team before every game that no one is hurt by him. you gotta love someone who is bad enough to have to pray for the other team before a game. thats my kinda of guy.

he is rivals top 100 right now. depends of if the down grade him because of early committ to us. i am 6.3 and he was looking me eye to eye. i think he is only 16 or maybe just turned 17 so he should get bigger stronger and faster. i love it to that he will be able to enroll early that can only help him and us.

I can't wait to see what he will look like with our S&C program. Early enrolling would be huge so he could get a jumpstart on S&C.

i am telling you this kid is hungry and on a mission. his family has had to move around alot and need income . he will try to be in the league after his junior year he really has no choice his family needs the money that bad.i will wager no one will out work this kid once he is in k town.
