Seems like this is touching a nerve with you. Look, I am not calling the kid stupid. I am not 'attacking' the kid. The decision is what I am calling stupid. Its not a good idea to go to Memphis to play football if you have the options this kid has. He has major programs that can offer him way better opportunities for advancement in football than Memphis. What if my son wanted to become a mechanical engineer and he had a full ride to Vanderbilt but decided to go to Murray State instead. Would that not be a dumb decision? I look at this situation in a similar light.
Now, if the kid does not have interest in making a career out of football in the NFL then going to Memphis and staying home would be a perfectly legit decision. And maybe that is the case. I am not familiar with him or his situation.
Well I mean...
Is this kid really stupid enough to go to Memphis? Just because of his connection with the head coach. He is a very highly rated player with offers from major programs. He most certainly has NFL aspirations. Could he be dumb enough of to go to Memphis?
Regardless, my nerves are in pretty good shape. I'm not really doing anything at work. It's Thursday. I'm alright. Thanks. I hope you're doing ok, too.
If I purposely put my hand in a fire, am I dumb or was it just a "dumb decision?" I don't care if you attack or call the guy stupid--I don't know him. Plus, he lives in TN and doesn't plan on playing for UT, so maybe his intellect should be questioned....

eace2:
I just think that--and a lot of people seem have a problem with this on the board--when a guy wants to go somewhere, who's to say it's a good or bad decision? We just want all the top prospects to go to UT. If they don't then...whatever. And this really wasn't aimed at you, but just the idea in general that when kids go someplace they are definitely missing out on a certain aspect of something. Anywhere you go, someone is going to be convinced that "if you go to school X, you won't be doing activity Y." If going pro were what every kid wanted, I'd have a lot more success in NCAA 2010 recruiting.
If my son (I don't have one) got a full ride to Vandy, and wanted to go to Murray State, that's his decision. It can't be a stupid one if he were to apply himself, and enjoy what he's doing in the process. I assume you can still get a good paying job from Murray State. Which brings up a good point: What looks better, Cs from Vandy (playing at a big school), or A's from Murray State (playing at Memphis)? I'd think these kids know what they're doing. Most have played football a lot of their life.
But you said it yourself, you're not familiar with him or his situation.
Anyway...You get where I'm coming from. I'm kind of just beating a dead horse now.
