'10 TN WR Jerry Anderson

I know that with scholarship limitations it is difficult for the coaches to take a chance on an underdeveloped WR like this, but it's nice to hear of a Memphis kid saying playing for the Vols would be a "dream come true".

I think he would be worth it if these three things would happen:
1. It would open some more doors in Memphis for future recruits
2. Kiffin thinks he has enough potential to develop into a good possession receiver
3. It causes Scroggins to want to come here

I don't think you can really count on 2 or 3, and I don't know if his school is one that produces many legit D1 prospects in the Memphis area. It would be nice to offer him, but I'm just not sure the possible reward justifies the risk.

This sounds like it is directed toward Scroggins and Anderson. It could be coincidental, I don't know. Doesn't look good for Anderson though.
It’s one of the oldest debates in recruiting: Is one prospect worth two scholarships?

Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin thinks not.

It happens quite often. One prospect requests (or demands) that his teammate, friend or relative be offered a scholarship before he makes his college decision.

“We don’t do that,” Kiffin said Wednesday on the News Sentinel’s radio show, The Sports Page. “It’s way too critical — the value of a scholarship to Tennessee.

“What I’ve been hired here to do is not to sign somebody to help us with somebody else.”

Rebuilding UT’s program is first on Kiffin’s mind.

“We’ve got to sign great players,” he said. “It’s too valuable at this stage right now to waste something just to get somebody. We have too many good things to sell and too many things going on. We don’t need to sign somebody else to get somebody.”

I wouldn't expect less from CLK.

The question is: With this kid's size, does CLK convince himself he's worth the scholarship as a "project" and them smile at the added attraction for the most important prospect on our board?

Also, theoretically Scroggins increases the quality of all of the other offensive prospects we sign (it's hard to get top quality WRs with no QB to throw them the ball). Offering Anderson may not be worth it to get one prospect, but is it worth it to start the dominos falling that could get UT multiple great prospects?

Paige and Abrams come to mind when you talk about risks. You never know what the player will develop into once he transitions to the college game. Look ad Donald too. But, in the same breath look at Colt McCoy and Bradford.

I was listening to Sports Animal yesterday and they were discussing a conversation with Scroggins father. Jesse's dad said that a package deal would have absolutely nothing to do with his decision. Take it for what it is worth, but that is straight from the fathers mouth.

So how many believe that Scroggins isn't waiting to see what happens with Anderson? I believe he is.

Yeah, but do you truly believe that is what I'm saying? Do you think if we did offer Anderson, would Scroggins commit right after?

There is nothing that Scroggins or his family has said to indicate that. It's bigger than that. He's at the USC camp this week, why would he commit to UT during that time anyway? Use your head for something besides a hat rack. Just messing.:salute:

I say offer him. Look How good Denarius Moore has done after coming in with Lennon Creer.

We will offer this kid because we want him and we think he can contribute..

Not because he is related to Scroggins.. If Scroggins doesn't come to UT because he cousin can't.. Then he never really wanted to come to UT in the first place

If we offer this kid and and he commits and then Jesse commits what happens to the kid if Prater, Milton, and Ambles commit? Hes automatically 4th on the Depth chart and looking at a very tall mountain to climb. In no way am I say they all commit but im just saying he would be in a tuff spot before they even played a game. Thats what I think is running through Kiffins head.

You really think he will be a 3 star??
I think that is kind of far fetch

He already has an offer from Ole Miss and several other D1 schools and he has good size for a possession receiver. I think he could easily be a 3* with a decent senior season.

That said, I only think we should offer him if the coaching staff thinks he's one of the best receivers we can get, and I doubt he will be that if/when Scroggins commits.

Weither you like it or not, Scroggins is the corner stone, lench pin, foundation, whatever you want to call it for our near future. If we miss out on him the class will not pan out and we'll have to resort to plan "B". That would call for heavy heavy recruiting for Rettig and probably turn the heat up on Newton. We are desperate for a GOOD QB this class. All the fans know this as well as the entire football fan base across the country. This is why Meyer decided to get in on Scroggins because he knows we are bettting the farm with Scroggins. Just another way to keep us weak and not a real threat. I know that all will not be lost if we miss on Scroggins, but man, we'll be sucking hind tit on this one though.
