'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

new Jake Heaps article on scout says LSU is still in it mostly due to the fact that Crowton is a mormon, like Heaps. If he were to to LSU after his mission, he would be a freshman when jefferson is a senior.

Actually, I think Jefferson would be graduated in that scenario when Heaps is a frosh. Next year, Heaps will be in HS and Jefferson will be a soph. 2 years of mission coincides with Jr and Sr year for Jefferson.

And we all know coaches at big schools (especially coordinators, especially offensive coordinators) stay in one place for a long time.

If Heaps commits, this summer will be a much more enjoyable one, as it will become a summer full of WR and OL commitments!

I initially read that too quickly and thought Rex said that "...Crowton is a moron, like Heaps." I was about to jump on Rex for being so critical.

From James Bryant over on Scout:

Just spoke to Mat Taylor Head Coach of Skyline High School in Washington, home of Jake Heaps.

Heaps was very flattered that Coach David Reeves was one of the first coaches there Monday.

"Coach Reeves and I got a chance to sit down and talk football a little while, he seems to be a great QB Coach," Coach Taylor said.

Also Tennessee is recruiting sophomore wide receiver Kasen Williams, LSU offered him last week, the Vols a month ago, Alabama today.

Taylor has the No. 1 QB in the country in Heaps and probably the No. 1 overall player next year in Williams.

Story to follow shortly.

“It meant a lot to him that they were here Monday,” Taylor said. “Tennessee is in it as much as any of the other four schools. I would say their chances are good. He has a lot of interest in the Vols; he has a lot of respect for Coach Kiffin. He really enjoyed his visit earlier this spring there.”
