'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

Also, just noticing....his stock dropped BIG time. Rivals had him dropped to 155. He's not going to be as good as we think. Good luck to him, but we will be JUST fine without him.

Wrong. When the rankings get redone, he will move very near if not at the top of the QB rankings. He really impressed at him last camp. Made every throw -- perfect spiral every time, on point. He's the real deal and we missed on him. Simple as that. Hard to get a guy all the way in Washington to play football at Tennessee. Not saying it never happens, but it's rare.

Scout has him as the #1 QB. Tom Lemming has him as the #2 QB behind Blake Bell. Heaps is big time...

And I don't remember which organization, but I think it was Sporting News that ranked Heaps the #1 QB and the #14 prospect overall.

Rivals will also raise him near the top.

Point is, the kid is the real deal. He's a top 3 QB this year. There's no need to be like the Husky boards where they try to comfort themselves by saying that his stock is dropping (when it isn't) and that other QBs work just as well (not for husky fans at least).

We are not going to get them all. Oh well.

Heaps out of them all was my favorite. His high school films were amazing, and despite a poor performance at one camp our staff really seemed to want him. Scroggins is my last hope for this class. He was my second favorite and I just hope he comes to UT and feels like it's home.

This is by far and away the biggest keystone to our recruiting efforts. Once we land a good one then the WR and OL and the rest of the supporting O Cast will fall into place. Without a quality QB recruit...just don't want to think about that now.

If things don't look bright, there's always the NFL. lol.

Heaps fits best in the BYU scheme. He'll probably reach his full potential in that system. It really suits his skill set. We need Scroggins more anyway. He's a better prospect for us.

Run that by Scroggins for us.

Dude. Don't know for sure if you're serious, but if not, disregard. ARE YOU INSANE? This is the south and college football is king. In Tennessee we BLEED orange. It's in our blood. It's what we think about CONSTANTLY. There are two seasons here. College Football season and waiting for college football season. Sure we follow the NFL. Some even die hard fans of some team or another, but the common tie that binds us is our love for the Tennessee Volunteers. We live with the Vols and we die with the Vols. Just so you understand. This aint Washington.

Glad to know we can place you in the "he wasn't good enough -- we didn't want him anyway" crowd. Get real. Heaps would have been perfect for our system and almost any other.

I would have to agree with both statements. Especially the part about bleeding orange!:)

I'm also waiting on someone to say we're going to sick EB on him.

You don't know me. I've spent the majority of my life in the South too (roughly 2/3 of my life), but I've never followed college sports until I got to college. Even right now, I still prefer major league. Hell, I didn't even care about the local college team during my time in the South nor do I care about that division (which as a hint is not SEC and a bit more west).

Did you eat paint chips as a child?

And... wait 'til Eric Berry sticks him. That's when he'll know better than to play for any team other than the Vols. :dance2:

Pay attention. I covered that yesterday on the main board before the announcement as it was painfully obvious that Heaps was going to BYU. :eek:k:

Actually, though, I do think Heaps would have been great with the Vols, but there are others.

Any chance Heaps takes a visit to UT in the fall? What we know about our staff is that they won't give up if Heaps is their man.

Although most QB's stick to their commitments, it would be such an interesting twist from 2008 to 2009 if there was an anti-Josh Nunes situation.

Its those things you thought were Corn Flakes!!:)

nah, I prefer French Toasted Crunch.

And responding to one of the post above me, Heaps is said to pretty much be a lock once he commits. Otherwise, there is no reason to recruit players to the same school only to waver in your committment and try to bring them to another school.

I know it wont happen but if heaps were to commit. Just about everyone (except espn of course) would label kiffin and his staff the recruiters of the year instantly. Thats how big of a deal it would be but it wont happen
