10 year show cause/NCAA, Tyndall discussion (merged)

"Coach Tyndall pushed me as hard as he possibly could every day for four years. He helped to develop me into a first round draft pick, (#22 Denver), and helped me to reach my dreams. His passion for the game is unmatched, and if you play for Coach T, your game will improve every day."

"Coach Tyndall comes to the gym hyped up and excited every day. He is so passionate about the game, and it rubs off on his players. There is no doubt that me playing for him helped me get to the NBA. I loved playing for him and would tell any young player if you want to get better, Coach T will help you do that."

I'd imagine the 18 guys that Barnes has put in the NBA would say similar things to that.

BTW ran into Butch Jones at the Golden Corral, and I asked how his best friend Donnie Tyndall was. He gave me a puzzled look and said "My best friends are Rick Barnes and Dave Serrano" and patted me on the back and left.

Undisputed fact.

Jimmy ?

Man I like the Rick Barnes hire. I grew up watching his Texas teams. Can't wait to meet him.

Here's one from an interesting source. With the SD flaunts his other quote, he'll probably crap his pants that he said this, too.

Not if Tennessee is dragged into federal court along with the NCAA in a Sherman Antitrust violation which is where this is heading.

Bring IT!

The thought that the University of Tennessee should be held hostage by the likes of Donnie T, that's nuts, crap, what did he do here? Mediocrity?

I'd like to hear how his assistants pulled off all of this right under his nose, under oath, in a court of law. Once it goes federal both sides have subpoena power and all of those that refused to cooperate will have no choice.

Like you, I hope it comes....I really do.

The thought that you want what's best for your boy even though it may damage the school (in some far fetched land)...hard to wrap the head around it, but to each his own.

GBO!!!

This post followed mine:

There was a followup question asking for some quotes from these players by another poster. Got any?
One might also consider the fact which as usual is discarded that Coach T is 46 and Coach Barnes is 61. If DT had remained at Tennessee for the next 15 years, who knows how many we would have had? He was 1 for 1 at UT. Elite players would have been flocking to Tennessee the way they flocked to Texas because of the university's prestige. It is sad that 16-16 is now the target for our basketball program.

Ah the magical "if" game: if Donnie wasn't terrible at cheating, he'd still be here.

But he's not, so shove your hypothetical fantasy up your tailpipe.

Barnes was coach at Texas for 17 years, and put 18 (from Texas, I didn't look at his previous schools) in the NBA. I don't understand your point. He had already paved and traveled the road that you hypothetically suggest Tyndall would have.

Edit: Barnes has had 22 in his 29 years total. Tyndall was a long, long way from that.

Confidentiality. You understand that, right?

A couple more posts down from that one actually has a few quotes that you've conveniently ignored. But way to go on staying in character.

I'm a statistics guy. I have given you two of two. Granted, you have given me two of 18 NBA players praising their former coach. So as of now the score is 2-2 even though my aim was just to show what Josh thought of Coach T. Got any from the other 16?

And I showed how excited Josh was about the Barnes hire. So, there's that, too. I'm not going to dig up all that for you, especially since you won't give me what I've asked for for over a month. Two can play that "confidential" game.

He's basically trying to argue his fantasy (i.e. "if Tyndall had been at UT for 17 years, he'd produce a million NBA players") against reality (i.e. the actual players Barnes produced at Texas) and acting like it's some kind of legit argument.

In other words, as usual, he's making sh## up.

I was excited about the Barnes hire too, at first. Now, not so much.

Post this one? Stokes after his visit.

“Meeting Coach Barnes in person was great,” Stokes said. “That man’s a legend. He is. He’s a legend. He’s a great coach. He’s coached a lot of greats, and he’s put lots of people in the pros. That was my first time having a face-to-face convo with him and, you know, having a whole weekend with him. It was a lot of fun.

“Off the court, he’s a good guy. On the court, you know, he wants the best out of you and coaches you hard, and that’s what all the players told me. I’m going off feedback from the players there. The things I saw off the court were great, too. He’s just a really good guy.”
