104.5 this morning: Jalen Hurd

Flat-footed, Hurd is a legitimate 6'3.5, but according to his mom, he is done growing. After a recent groin injury, he was x-rayed and the docs said that he has met his growth plates and is not expected to get any taller. At this point, he is only going to grow wider. He may appear or even measured taller as he's recently growing out his hair and has a big, puffy fro up there.

As for Murphy saying that he slouches, that's some BS. He went to one camp this summer all the way in OH, and I seriously doubt he'd slouch (as they measure him at 6'4). So, that guy doesn't have a clue.

Hurd will be the starting RB and FS for his high school this year. Will he play any other position in college besides RB? Doubtful. He's very good at what he does, and only if he doesn't prouduce, do I see CBJ moving him.

Also, something else I thought was interesting is that is Hurd really 6'2 or 6'4? Mom says he has an extra vertebrate (L6), so that would have nothing to do with the length of his legs!

Listening to the zone on way to golf this morning the high school football show was talking about local Nashville teams. Jalen Hurd was talked
about in depth. They were talking about how he will most likely play defense at UT. I thought UT recruited him to play RB. Supposedly he is 6'4" about 235-240. They said he will be a better cornerback than RB in college. Anyone close to him or any locals know more about this? If UT will move him to defense, what will they do about the desperate need at RB?

Listed as the number 1 or 2 RB in highschool, we are going to make a nose guard out of him to take big Dan place next year is what i heard.:post-4-1090547912:

I removed this guy from my ignore list to see if his posts got anymore intelligent since CBJ was hired. Lol

These aren't my opinions about Hurd. I didn't give mine. But since you want them, my opinion is that Hurd will never play defense at UT. Unless he is a total flop which is nearly impossible imo.

How do the opinions of a high school football insider about Hurd somehow make me unintelligent with my post? I started this thread to get honest opinions about offense vs defense regarding Hurd. Nothing more, nothing less.....

While you are at it, please put me back on ignore. It will do us both a favor. Nice portrait of yourself on the summers eve box btw.......

Just saw Hurd's highlights on YouTube. Yikes - reminds me of Chuck Webb. Many of Hurd's plays were passes caught out of the backfield. CBJ should put the ball in this young man's hands as many times as possible in a game.

Sometimes, these things work out!

Jason Witten came to U.T. as a defensive lineman and his change of position worked out well for him and us.

Dominique Stevens came to U.T. to play runningback. We already had Jamaal, Travis & Travis, & Bryson. He ended moving to linebacker and did well enough to play for about seven seasons for the Buffalo Bills.

So, switching positions works out well sometimes....

It is my opinion that he will play RB at UT, but I hope he learns to run a lil less 'stood up' because if he runs straight up & down like that in the SEC at 6'4'' Im afraid he may get hurt. With that said, I think he will do some great things toting the rock for our beloved university.

Few if any at 6'3"-6'4" have 4.37 speed and his quickness. But there have been plenty in the his height range that have had great college and NFL careers. Eddie George and Eric Dickerson immediately come to mind.... Perhaps he's a once in a generation talent.

No way he plays RB....He is 235 and still has his Sr year to go in high school.

He will be 245-250 by the time he puts the orange jersey on.

Check out the TSSAA record book. The rushing records have Eric Westmoreland written all over them. He turned out to be a pretty decent LB. Jason Allen was the best HS RB I've ever seen. Its not unheard of to move a great HS offensive player to defense. D1 schools recruit athletes first.

I will be shocked if he doesn't end up on defense. He will be 6' 4.5'' at the very shortest when he arrives at UT. At that height he wouldn't last 3 games at RB in the SEC his knees would be ripped to shreds. It would be criminal to put any kid in that position to get hurt that badly that easily.

Y'all do realize that he could get conditioned to lose weight and get down to around 220lbs if he tried. I firmly believe this kid is a stud running back and needs to be there next year. The kid is too good of a HB to be playing DEFENSE. I also wouldn't move him from offense from where he has been a star to a side of the ball he's never played. It will be too big of a change for him to just take up defense and star in a year.

So a 6'4, 220 RB?????

Hell, he might as well play WR then.

He's gonna be a RB at UT and a d*** good one. So what if he's bigger than every teams defenses, except for lineman, just means he'll do some dozing.
