104.5 this morning: Jalen Hurd

Hurd will need to be thick to protect himself one would think.

I will be shocked if he doesn't end up on defense. He will be 6' 4.5'' at the very shortest when he arrives at UT. At that height he wouldn't last 3 games at RB in the SEC his knees would be ripped to shreds. It would be criminal to put any kid in that position to get hurt that badly that easily.

I've been trying to reach you...what's tonight's winning Powerball numbers?

I have a strong dislike for 104.5, not only are most of the hosts crap but they often make claims like this pretending they have a clue.

Also people saying he is to big to be an RB? that's retarded.. The determining factor is speed and field vision. He has both.

Jalen Hurd will have enough yards to put him in at least the top 5 overall RB's before he leaves UT..

I would say even higher, but he will be such a talent. That it will be hard to convince him to stay for senior year when they project him as a high first rounder his junior year.

This kid is amazing, and there is no doubt in my mind that he will be great for UT.

Remember that one poster saying Jalen was too small. Now we've got people saying he's too big. Lol

I think rcvol has an alternate screen name...would explain the few likes he received :)

RB.
I think we'll see 2 RB beside the QB. Paulk left, Hurd Right. Imagine that. He can also play some FB in certian plays. If all fails I would say TE but Helm and Wolf is going to hold that down easily...maybe they would then try him on defense...don't think he fails at RB though.

He will play RB. Scouts see him as an Eric Dickerson type back. Elusive upright runner. Remember at the size he is he DOMINATED in high school last season.

No way he plays RB....He is 235 and still has his Sr year to go in high school.

He will be 245-250 by the time he puts the orange jersey on.

Watch his youtube video and say that with a straight face.

Watched a video of him at a camp in Miss. his Soph. year and they timed him at 4.37 in the 40. If he can maintain something close to that even with the added weight and muscle, then watch out. Don't know how he will do against college linebackers and safties, but I like his chances. Who knows, he may grow into a TE or DE. Nice problem for Butch to have. Bet he pinches himself everyday at the thought of working with the better athletes he is now able to recruit.

Let me get this straight..... Beech is going to play Jalen Hurd at Safety after all of the yards he racked up last year at runningback. He had 7 touchdowns or so in the State Championship... Makes a lot of sense...

In high-school, a lot of kids play 'iron-man'. Sometimes this is done out of neccessity, as some schools simply lack the numbers to field a an independent offensive and defensive unit.

Other times a school may be blessed to have a player of such tremendous talent that playing him on both offense and defense will produce the highest level of success.

Out of curiosity, as big as Jalen is right now, has anyone posted stats which indicate how strong he currently is?

All I have to say to those who doubt Jalen Hurd can play RB is this;

Eddie George was 6'3", and at least 235-240# for most of his career.
Guy was an absolute monster.

Watching Hurd's film reminds me a LOT of George.

Current bench right now 340-350. Said he wasn't pleased with this, but he lost a year on upper body after his injury/surgery/rehab. Max squat is around 530-540. Has a strong lower body, but all great RBs do.

when Jalen was born God gave him locomotive breath. . When you look into his eyes you see flames of fire. Defensive players that have been run over by Jalen complain of a diesel smell right before losing consciousness.

Here you go, pardner:

Mike Alstott, Buccaner RB (Ok, HB/FB) - 248lbs

Jerome Bettis, Steelers RB - 255lbs.

You were saying?

From what I see, Jalen has the size, speed and athleticism to play virtually any position on the field except interior lineman. Haven't seen him throw so not sure about QB. ;)

I say play him wherever his skills translate into the most yards/points for the team and right now, that would appear to be running back.

104.5 and the rest of us can only speculate but it'll ultimately be up to Butch and as we all know, Butch gets it! :D
