11-2: BE HONEST…..

Who really expected that after Heuple’s First season (7-7 with a bowl loss to Perdue) that we would be 11-2 last year / #1 Offense in the nation / Breaking streaks to Florida & Alabama / In the mix for the CFP / and beating Clemson in the Orange Bowl with our 2nd string QB?

I have looked forward to Tennessee football EVERY year - And several times I have been disappointed…..

But, I have not had a feeling of anticipation for a football season like THIS year for a VERY LONG TIME!

GO VOLS!!!!!
I totally expected it. Midway through 2021 I just knew they were really going to show out in 2022.

I see it as all riding on the D. Offense will score enough points to win most if not all games with a good D. It has to be better that last season. Cannot depend on having to outscore everyone to win.

Tennessee will have the best Offense of Every team they play. How that translates into the record depends on the breaks. 12-0 is a real possibility; 10-2 is the floor to me. (barring major injuries; esp on the Oline)

I’m having a hard time making a prediction until I see Milton. I know we smashed Clemson but that was with defense and some timely big plays on offense. We had a bunch of 3 and outs and got sacked 4 times. If Milton comes out and shows he has better control of the offense and it flows similarly to when Hooker was running the show, I think we have a chance at 10-2. The defense will be better. So even if the offense takes a minor step back, the defense will close that gap.

I think after the Florida game we will know for sure what kind of team and season we have ahead of us. We will also by that point in a year have a better idea of what our remaining opponents are about. USCe and A&M are lowkey dark horses if lights come on for certain players..

Was some what optimistic until the fall practice injury reports started heating up. Thinking 8-4 now.
Depends on injuries and QB play, but wouldn’t be real surprised. I can’t get that SCjr. game out of my mind.

i'm going to say 9-3. I'm sorry but the boys are going to have to show me that they can beat florida on a consistent basis after the 11 year uf streak

I did not expect 11-2 last year I had us penciled in as 8-5. I am thinking 9-3 this year just because I feel like there is one game we will lose that I did not expect to lose. Lose to Bama, GA and ??
There are so many unknowns. Will Bobby give A&M the edge they have been missing? Will Florida’s new QB and the rest of their team take a step forward and be able to take on the Vols in the swamp? Will the returning OC and once a Heisman candidate QB transfer team be able to take us down with the advantage of playing in Lexington? Will Beamer and Rattler reload to have our number again this year and be unphased by a team and crows that wants payback? Will Milton finally have it this year and be able to maintain all season? Perhaps other parts of our team will step forward and we will be more balanced this year even if Joe isn’t as dominating as Hooker. Last year was truly special, but indeed it was unexpected and arguably with more talent at some positions. I am going with 9-3, but I would not be surprised if we went 8-4 or 10-2 either. That’s only a 2 game difference.

I don’t really have high expectations yet. I have always thought year 5 was the year we should all have high expectations and no excuses for Heupel. That will be the first year he has where his recruiting and coaching show up as upperclassmen. It will be five years removed from the worst situation our program has been in during the modern era. 3 years removed from roster sanctions.

I think expecting not to have 6 and 7 win seasons at this juncture is fair. If we turn in a 9 win or above season this year, 9 wins will be the floor for me in year 4. I expect to be winning no less than 10 wins by the time Nico is a junior with perhaps a shot at the playoffs or NC his junior and senior years.

Same. I see Milton being improved but he's not Hooker. The offense will take a couple of steps back this year in my opinion. I also think injuries will be more of a problem this season. 8 sounds about right. 9 would be a great year.

This is a joke right? Dean bishop wasn’t going to get any snaps this year and Weathersby was maybe a rotational peice. Mays will be back by week 2-3 more than likely and the rest of people are all precautionary

I didn't predict it, but I was probably a bit more optimistic than most. I made this statement almost exactly one year ago in response to someone who said there was no reason to believe we would win 10 games: "I don't know about that. We narrowly lost 3 games last season that would have resulted in a 10-win season if they had all gone our way. Never say never, right?"

So, at least I guess I believed in it on some level.

I was expecting 8-4 or 9-3 with potential bowl win. I expected an improvement but not at level we achieved.

I was shocked we beat bama fl (because we never can) and that we lost to sc. I was shocked we beat Clemson.

I think we have an identical record this year but honestly our coach is so good I could see us doing better. Very happy with our coach.

I think 8-4 is the most likely outcome, with 9-3 being a close second. While Georgia and Alabama aren’t guaranteed losses, they are likely losses. If we lose those two, I’d be satisfied if we only lost one of Florida, USC, Kentucky, aTm, and Mizzou. I’d be happy with 9-3, really happy with 10-2, and ecstatic with 11-1.
