11-2: BE HONEST…..

Some of y’all really need to shake off the BVS and not be afraid of a little hope and optimism. Why on God’s green earth should we lose 4 games this season? Don’t underestimate this team, we’ve got the most complete puzzle we’ve seen in a long time. The floor of my expectations is 10-2, with 11-1 very achievable. All I know is, it’s great to be a Tennessee Vol!

Hope and optimism are great things, but you need a dose of reality.

Who really expected that after Heuple’s First season (7-7 with a bowl loss to Perdue) that we would be 11-2 last year / #1 Offense in the nation / Breaking streaks to Florida & Alabama / In the mix for the CFP / and beating Clemson in the Orange Bowl with our 2nd string QB?

I have looked forward to Tennessee football EVERY year - And several times I have been disappointed…..

But, I have not had a feeling of anticipation for a football season like THIS year for a VERY LONG TIME!

GO VOLS!!!!!

There is no Vol fan anywhere that realistically had us going 11-2. If they say any different they are lying. If we are being honest, Heupel should have won COTY last year.

Lol. There are a ton of reasons why we couldn’t win 10. Injuries. Milton could be worse than what we think. Nico may not be ready. The defense cools take a step back. The offense could take a step back. Maybe we just don’t play up to our abilities.

Ok BigOrangeDrain, it’s true those would all hamper our succcess this year. But they’re not facts at present, and all signs point to the opposite happening. I’m not saying we are guaranteed 10 wins, but predicting 8-4 is just too pessimistic a view to have after an astonishing 2023 season and one of the most positive fall camps in recent memory.

It’s a shame that some here would be satisfied to see us go 8-4 just so they could say “see I told y’all”. I haven’t seen a single sign that we should lose a step this year and neither has anyone else, so excuse me while I get pumped for a great season and Go Vols!

Not difficult? Are you out of your mind?

Of course, it’s difficult. Poor phrasing on my part. I meant in comparison to last year, the path is easier. A&M at home and Virginia in Nashville is, by any measure, easier than LSU and Pitt on the road. Beating those teams won’t raise any eyebrows nationally, even though A&M may be improved.

A&M is gonna be a really tough game. And I hate to say it, but Kensucky up there at the end of October ain't gonna be cake.

I thought we would win maybe 9 games. Definitely was not expecting an Orange Bowl at the beginning of the season!

I’m not trying be a downer, but I’m going to take a cautiously optimistic approach to the upcoming season.
Last year was lightning in a bottle and I’m not sure the Vols can recapture the magic. I certainly hope they do though. I’d love to see them run both GA and SC out of Neyland with their asses whipped and heads hanging

TAMU worries me a bit.
They have the horses, but do they have the driver?
I am very happy they finally come to Knoxville.
They got a good steaming heap of home cooking in that '16 game.

Boys...were splitting Bama and Georgia...and I'm not so sure its not a reversal of last year.

I agree. Bama has clacking knees as they can't find an every down QB yet and Smart will be on eggshells walking into Neyland this season.

I think it's important to understand we are still bringing this program back from the ashes. 11-2 in year 2 was an amazing accomplishment. But we lost a lot of talent to the NFL, including the best QB we've had since Peyton. If we go, 8-4 or 9-3 in the regular season, don't fret. It's still a big step in a positive direction and the future is bright for the first time in a long time.

We lost because Butch wouldn’t go for two after our last TD. That loss and the Oklahoma loss was because of a weak hearted coach.
