11/8 - Never forget

Yes! He should definitely have been fired after winning 10 games and going to the SECCG in 2007! Started the season ranked 18th in 2008. Why didn’t we fire him right then?!?!
Man it is nuts to think about that. Like, I can't even imagine firing Heup if he had a bad season this year after last year, and we didn't even go to the SECCG.

I feel like a double digit win season should at least buy you two years to turn it around. After all, this sport can be fickle. Injuries, close loses, refs, etc. Just a lot of factors that could cause a down year.

It is crazy to think about. I think if 2005 hadn’t been such a disaster then there’s no way we would have fired him in 2008.

Think about this. From 2000 until his firing Fulmer had a losing record against top 25 ranked teams and against our 3 biggest rivals AL, GA and FL. Pretty bad losing record in those 2 areas.

This is why you don't tell a coach he is fired but can finish the season. Do it at the end or let them go and name an interim. This was an absolutely brutal week even for those of us that wanted Fulmer gone.

+1

Trying to have it both ways in a situation like that never works.

"Hurricane" Hamilton was an awesome fundraiser, but the administrators who elevated him to Director of Men's Athletics were feuding incompetents. It would take more than a decade to overcome the damage done.
Fulmer endorsed him is what’s bad and Hamilton was supposedly a large reason why he was ousted. Although I still think to this day the Haslam’s we’re ready for Fulmer to go. Hamilton was just the scapegoat there. The way it was handled was completely incompetent and sleazy.

I live in Wyoming. They have a loyal fanbase. I wear my TN garb around here and no one has said anything. I don’t think they remember that win, which is crazy to me.

Ut was in the UF game in the 4th this season

Very few people are discussing UT winning the east this season. 07 team got a very favorable draw vs the west. We didn't win it as much as they lost it. UF was average that season but 39pts better than UT. Bama was in way worse shape than uf is now

Where have I ever said UT didn't rep the east in 07? You're creating your own narrative now. Yes, Fulmer won the NC but he also took down UT football twice and got paid very handsomely for it. He should have been run in 05. If he's never allowed around the program again it will be too soon
They were down 19 in the 4th and made it presentable at the 8:41 mark. You're putting lipstick on a pig.

2007 Bama was 5-2 going into the game with Tennessee. Your revisionist history is fascinating.

If you can't remember the dark days you won't enjoy the good times as much
Unfortunately, I was at that game with a bunch of my family. Fortunately, they are still strong Tennessee fans.
