11/8 - Never forget

We got beat 59-20 and 41-17 by UF and UA in 2008. Entirely different
Losing twice (though, the 2007 UF team was lightyears better than the 2023 one), begging Florida to lose 3 times, needing to win out, etc? Yeah, it's the same situation. You want to split hairs because of point differential, fine, but it's the same situation.

In my opinion, Fulmer and Hamilton should have been gone before the 2008 season even began, just a wholesale absence of leadership at that critical point in time and regrettably, it didn't improve very much over the next 10 years, the university and the athletic department embarked on a piss poor hiring spree, signing long term very expensive contracts to those individuals least suited to carrying out those functions, aight

One word (and please pardon the obscenity): Haslam.

This loss has nothing on the 2011 loss to Kentucky. It’s not even in the top 10 of most painful losses for me and not the most embarrassing loss for me. Everyone knows what was going on in 2008 when Wyoming came to town.
was this when a 3rd string wr converted to qb and killed us with the wildcat all day?

That wr/qb had one drive and a very short field for TDs. Outside of that he was basically ineffective. We lost because we didn't want to score on offense

We were not competitive in either game that year. That Bama team also lost to ULM at home. They were much worse than this year. We accepted the seccg but very few believed we won the east

By that time, the game was rapidly passing Fulmer by. He was getting out-recruited and out coached by just about everybody that mattered. Hamilton was NOT the guy to effectively navigate/lead that transition. Our program was set up for failure. The wrong leadership in the AD; division among the boosters and university leadership; and a fanbase that was also divided and yet hungry to stay at the top. And the subsequent AD hires were atrocious, thereby ensuring that the coaching hires would be bad. And they were.

Losing to Vandy and South Carolina after beating Georgia and Florida really sucked. Still dumbfounded that we didn't win the East that year.

I apologize in advance for the necro bump. Blame PJ for putting me on this thread.

But there is some awesome gallows humor in this thread.

A post which made me spew my drink:

3rd and 17...might as well be 3rd and overseas....no chance in hell of getting there.

I think I'm the only one that felt like we were going to lose this game yesterday. Over the past 4-5 years, if you watched the program, you could tell that we were a team that was falling completely apart at the seams. Luckily, we had some lucky breaks and some genuinely talented players to mask what was happening behind the scenes.

The appreciate for Fulmer stops for me post-2002. There's no excuse. Yesterday was just another kick in the gut from a coaching staff that let their egos and their own tunnel vision get in the way of developing a strong program.

This dude only posted for a week, but pretty much nailed it

I remember prior to that game, some fans worried that UGA would fire Richt and come after Doofus Dooley.....LMAO.

Net yards: 151-65, Wyo
Rushing: 100-30, Wyo
TOs forced: 2-0, Wyo
Sacks: 2-0, Wyo

We didn't have any penalties. That is the only thing about the stat line that is not nauseatingly disgusting.
When UT sucks, the refs treat us like they treat our opponents when we are competitive. Some things never change.

The beatdown by Vandy and Dooley being carted out with crutches in 2012 and the 2011 Kentucky loss (streak snapper) to a WR playing wildcat all game are far more embarrassing to me.

The win against UAB and carrying the WR that caught the TD pass off the field also makes my skin crawl.

Honorable Mention: Georgia State, any game with Cornbread and his stupid face mask thing he wore.
