The 175 pound ball-hawking safety recorded seven interceptions last season for his Minor High School team and said that he could see himself playing at the next level with a former high school teammate at Tennessee.

"I could because I have a teammate that I'm comfortable playing with," Jones said.

"I know that Eric Berry was leaving I know that I have a great chance to come in and play as a freshman," Jones continued.

He wants to play as a freshman which is a big reason why auburn is the team to beat right now.

just read the article looks good for auburn

"I told Coach Chizik that I really loved it and that I'm going to end up committing to them one day," said Jones. "Auburn is a big leader. That is where I'm looking at going right now."

He's a smart kid. He is at least keeping an open mind and taking his visits. Other people should do this: name a leader rather than commit this early. (Pagan)

just because they commit early doesn't mean their recruitment is over. i'm sure we could all name a ton of guys who committed early last year only to sign an LOI with a different school.

I remember reading something that said Tom Lemming estimated there were around 200 commitment switches in this last class.

i'll just throw out a few names who were very early commits.

DaRick Rogers
Justin Hunter
JC Copeland
JaWuan James
Corey Miller

the list could go on and on. this is a long process.

Off the top of my head...with early being a subjective term...

Demarco Cobs
JC Copeland
Brandon Willis
Pat Harris
Bruce Irvin
Ralph Williams
Delvin Jones
Rissean Broussard
Michael Taylor
Markeith Ambles
Kenbrell Thompkins

Again...what a person may consider "early" is subjective...but all of those guys did commit months before signing day

This. This past recruiting class was crazy. I loved every minute of it though. lol

This is my point. Pagan knows his recruiting process isn't over so why commit? Name florida your leader if you feel like you have to then keep an open mind and take your visits so you can make a more informed decision.

I agree plains. I know that's what I would do if I was a recruit. Simply for the fact I wouldn't wanna scare any programs away as well. I'm not saying Pagan doesn't totally love UF (hope not) but I'm sure his process is going to be a whirlwind just like the others.

I think some of them do it to kind of hold a spot. Commit to your leader early on so that you have a scholarship, but you know you can always change your mind later.

To be fair, UT's situation was pretty unique. And a few of those guys had problems with qualifying for the SEC (Harris, Irvin, Broussard) but it's a good point.
