“Right now they (Auburn) are still on top,” Jones says. “I still have my same top schools with Auburn, Tennessee and Florida. Right now Alabama is giving me interest, but I would still put Auburn on top.”

watch list safety christion jones has three favorites and one leader

christion jones (adamsville, ala./minor) updated espn affiliate web site irishsportsdaily.com on the latest surrounding his recruitment.

Jones currently lists auburn as his leader with notre dame and tennessee rounding out his top three.

"i'm just kind of weighing my options and seeing where everyone stands with me,? Jones said. "i'm looking for great people, great interaction with the coaches. A place i can fit in and not be an outcast."

several other programs including ole miss, georgia tech, iowa, ucla, texas a&m and vanderbilt have also offered.

Jones earned class 6a all-state recognition last fall after registering 65 tackles, seven interceptions and seven touchdowns.

If he likes Auburn that much why not just commit?

The word is he does not want to go far from home and would prefer to stay instate. Hence the reason Auburn is his current leader. Most believe that if UA offers it would knock out Auburn as the leader. UA has not offered and not sure if they will until after camps. I do believe he is holding out to see if UA offers which does not meant he would commit.

This is one of those players I think UT has a great shot at because it is not that far from home and from what I am hearing the kid has talent. UAs small class this year is really going to hurt when we do not get some of the instate talent like CJ. He can call the Barn his leader but I think UT has just as good of a chance as anyone with him at this point.

Looks like Chris picked up an offer from Florida last week. But claims he feels closest to Auburn.

"Florida came down today and they offered," Chris Jones said. "It feels great."

“My top-5 is Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt, in that order,” said the 5-foot-11, 170 pound Jones.

“Right now Tennessee is number three on my list. Communication with the coaching staff is really the biggest thing I have going with them. I haven’t really gotten a chance to see everything that the campus has to offer so when I visit again this summer I’ll have a better idea of where they stand.”

This is a quality prospect, and shows the staff can stay up there with the big boys.

Who knows, he may fall in love with Dooley and Joseph when he comes up for a visit.

I wouldn't count us out at this point.

My boy keeps telling me we won't get him. But i think once when he get him on campus we'll be at the top with Auburn. I'll say this too Crump is a big kid.

He likes to juggle Florida, UT, and ND around but Auburn is always his leader. He and Johnathan Rose have gotten really tight and Rose's dad and uncle played for Auburn.

The kid seems dead set on Auburn and has been for a while now. But the fact that we're in his Top 5 means we're still in the game. I think it's gonna be a tough pull but we just need to stay on him. I think he'll be a solid player.

I'll talk to his family here soon. But last time I talked to them he seemed to be pretty wide open.
