Ameer is a very bright kid and holds a core gpa of 3.3. Grades are not the issue. The issue may be his hs coach. The guy is a joke and one of the most difficult that i have had to deal with. When i first asked him about Ameer his response was "he isnt a d1 player" what? Usually coaches will do just the opposite. BTW Ameer has a teammate names Aaron Ernest who is a 16 year old senior that ran a 4.24 for me this summer. He also finished 2 in the country with a 10.21 100. He is 6-1 170 and plays wr and db. He is pretty damn good too. He has an offer from Tenn. for track but he wants to play fb. He has 7 fb offers.

Tell the Ernest kid to come here for track but to walk on in football. We need that kind of speed.

As for Tennessee, he enjoyed his visit to Knoxville earlier this season.

"Tennessee I visited when they played Kentucky," Abdullah said. "It was real fun. I got a chance to meet some of the players. They gave me good insight. Everything was positive from them."

Abdullah recently hosted Tennessee for an in-home visit.

"(Defensive Cooridinator) Justin Wilcox has been recruiting me for Tennessee," Abdullah said. "He is really recruiting me as a defensive back for Tennessee, which I have no problem with. I play that for my high school too. They have been telling me the same thing for a couple months now."

per Rivals

The UK game was apparently an official for Abdullah and it looks like he's another DB option. This DB recruiting is one of the most confusing I've seen.

I agree. The only way I can put the pieces together is that you never know what is going to happen on NSD. What kind of "JC Copeland" surprises are going to occur? We hope none, but if it does happen it is good develop multiple relationships with quality players to use as fall back options. I like the strategy, myself. I also like the way Coach Dooley accepts commitments. He makes very well sure that the player has weighed his options and is set on UT. None of this commit then decommit bull butter.

"Just made a highlight reel for Ameer Abdullah. Its between Tenn and Tex AM at this point.
He wants to play rb but the Tenn staff wants him as cb. He hopes this help changes their mind. If they tell him he can play rb he will commit. Vid is loading on youtube now. Be done in 5 mins."

that is from jimmyd. he doesnt have 20 posts so he couldnt make a thread, but i searched and decided it should go here. TIFWIW... i assume a link will soon follow.

all good in the hood. i watched some of the film. he certainly looks talented enough. i dont know if the coaches have watched him play RB or not, but its not really a huge need unless its a big time speed back

The kid is good. Apparently has good speed, good moves, and good balance. Looks like a D Young clone.

Oooops.

Sorry I said that.

So how does Rivals have this guy ranked the #9 APB and #10 recruit in AL, but ESPN have him as the #121 RB?

Good highlight video. He looks like a solid player.

He could definitely help us out with a wildcat formation. I know CDD used it at LaTech, but we haven't even sniffed at it here.
