'11 DE OL Trip Thurman

Dover, Del., offensive lineman Trip Thurman was on hand. Thurman was one of the most technically sound linemen out there and has great size (6-foot-6, 302 pounds). His hands and feet moved quickly for a guy his size and he was able to hold his own against more athletic defensive linemen during one-on-one drills. Thurman has an offer from Florida, and the Gators are high on his list. The more he camps, the more attention he’ll get from bigger schools. Rivals.com considers Thurman a four-star prospect.

Maybe they can make it right. It has to be a big disappointment when you grow up a Vol fan and attend the O&W game on your own dime and go un-noticed. It was an honest mistake but you could very well be right.

Gators definitel lead at this point. He seemed like a true OT to.

Kerbyson or Thurman what do you guys think? I feel like Kerbyson will get moved inside at some point. I know it is essential to keep the best players in state but I think Thurman has a higher ceiling

I'll take Posey everyday of the week and twice on sunday.

Yeah, Meyer's track record for offensive players in the NFL, especially OL, isn't too good. He'll take credit for Harvin, but he'd been a first rounder even if he played at Austin Peay.

Same for Tebag.

But it's OK, we'll have about 100 "we didn't want/need him anyway" posts after he commits to UF.

This happens every year where we let one get away that we should have taken but that's okay we will make it with someone else. It happens to just about every team in CFB. Try to look on the positive side of things because nothing good comes from being miserable/negative all the time.

BC, Florida, and South Carolina are his final three according to thebigspur.com (South Carolina site).

It also said that UT didn't make an offer. This true? If so, anyone know why? I'm not questioning the staff per se, just wonder if anyone has insight into the reasoning.

Apparently there was some mix-up at the O&W game. The coaches never found Thurman and felt like he didn't make enough of an effort to come find them during his visit. The staff got pretty upset and felt Thurman spurned them on his visit so they decided to look elsewhere.

lololol wat?

no.

UT didn't offer because he didn't fit their scheme, period. You don't take players that don't fit what you are trying to do, even if they are the #1 player in the nation. Sorry, square peg in a round hole doesn't work.

So this is going to be how you rationalize losing out on players...
