'11 FL DE James Wilder Jr.

Scout.com Take:
He is best on the defensive side of the ball because he gets after the quarterback.
SOPHOMORE: Wilder registered 145 total tackles with 62 solo and 15 sacks and was selected All-Hillsborough County First Team and FSWA Second Team 5A All-State LB, All Sun coast Second Team.
JUNIOR: Wilder was the driving force behind Plant's first 5A state title. Ran for 1,004 yards(7.49 per carry) and 15 TDs. Registered 136 tackles(66 solo) and 19 sacks on defense. First Team All State DL for 5A classification.

Guys why are we fooling ourselves this guy is most likely going to be a Gator. Im sure the whole country would be in shock if he left the state.

Alabama has a real chance with Wilder. He was in Tuscaloosa for the Nike Camp. And plans to have a future visit to Tuscaloosa.

You do realize that posting an assertion like this with no link or factual backup will only lead to three things:

1. 2-3 posts from Vol fans mocking you for thinking that every good recruit with a pulse wants to go to Bama

2. 3-5 posts from Vol fans wearing orange-colored glasses insisting that UT has as much of a chance with him as Bama

3. 1-2 posts from the Gator homers insisting he was, is, and always will be a Gator lock

Unfortunately, none of these three things (nor this post that inspired them) will add anything to this discussion.

All in all, could you just save us the page of wasted space next time and either provide a link with some new info or skip the obligatory "Bama has a chance with him" post?

He is saying this because Wilder has stated a number of times that Bama wants him as a RB, which is the position he wants to play in college.

Honestly, I don't think UT has a chance with him at all. I highly doubt CDD will recruit him as a RB, so there is one huge deficit we give ourselves immediately. Next, as the top recruit in the class, he can look at Bryce Brown and ask questions. Finally and sadly, why would he have any interest coming to UT unless we can absolutely wow him during a rather unlikely visit to UT.

My thoughts are not backed up by any official reports. These thoughts are just my brutally honest opinion.

Although I would've said the same thing about Bryce last year, we can go ahead and just plant flowers and have a book club discussion group in this thread now because that'll be more related to UT recruiting than Wilder's recruitment.
