'11 FL LB Gionni Paul

As a poster I saw on another site said, passing on Gionni tells us 2 things:

1. They feel good about where they are with a better LB.

2. They really like John Probst and Raiques Crump.

i sometimes think height is a lil overrated...i think weight should be more of a factor

ray lewis is hardly 6'1

LOL @ compariing Paul to NMT and Nelson. Athletically there is absolutely no comparison. Obviously Auburn, LSU and others see something in Paul that none of them saw IN NMT or Nelson.

Not that it matters at the moment with all that is going on in their program, but Paul recently received an offer from Florida also.

...................like I said before.

They found out he was NOT Fast Twitch...poor guy

Are you kidding??? The kid went from offers from Auburn, LSU, Florida, and other top programs one day to committing with Arizona State the next.

If that ain't "fast twitch", I don't know what is.

You can probably throw "fluid hips" into the description.

i am now of this opinion even though i was mad earlier.

You were pretty fired up LV. Usually you keep it more toned down, by hell it happens to us all at some point during the cluster F that is recruiting.

I don't think he was 6'1.

Whatever happened, it had nothing to do with his size -- simple logic tells you that. I said in a post the other day that since his size could not be the problem, either something happened while he was here on his OV or we had a better LB prospect locked up. Being an optimist, I went with #2, but obviously it was #1.

Had I been completely objective, it was pretty obvious that something happened while he was here. I have no idea what it was (drugs? stole something? picked his nose at the team dinner?) and at this point it does not matter. His case is closed and it is time to move on to the next recruit.

Praise the Lord that whatever it was, Coach Dooley and the staff found out about it before we wasted a scholarship on him.

I hope mlsoft is never on my jury in court. Assume the worst but jumping to conclusions haha. Just kidding man. Either way, whatever it was we have moved on and will be fine.

I think that his dad pulled Dooley aside and asked for money knowing now he couldnt get in trouble for it and Dooley dont play that. So it soured him on Pauls dad, not wanting him around the program. Kiffin probably turned Cam away for the same reason exept it wasent that he cared about paying him, it was just too much.

I posted this as my opinion on wensday and am sticking by it. The hieght thing is just to not embarass the kid publicly.

OK. I am a loser and have spent the past 20 minutes or so reviewing all the comments about Paul on this thread. I've been out of the loop for a little while and heard he committed to ASU. Reading this quickly and remembering some stuff that was said personally, I have a different opinion than most of you.

It is clearly his size. He did not do anything while on his visit.

If I remember correctly, before we offered Devrin Young a committable scholarship, Dooley had to check him out in person. The first thing out of his mouth was something to the effect that "hey you're a lot taller" and "bigger than I remembered".

Simply put, from what I've heard around and what I've read here and other sites is that Paul is simply too small to play the position from what our coaching staff wants. They did see him at camp but that was a while back and some have said that he grew since then and is still growing. He in fact, has not.

That's all I got.

Read on tos that he committed to Arizona State. Can't link from the phone

He committed to Arizona State. If that does not alert you to the fact that something besides his ability on the football field is hampering his recruitment then I dont know what to tell you.
