Isn't this A.J. Johnsons boy ? If so, that's the #1 reason I wanted a commit from this cat.
For those folks that are "in the know" how do we stand on DT's in this class?

Yes he was but him committing to NC State would indicate they were never a package deal.
Check out the Gabe Wright, Allen Carson, and Maurice Couch threads. Those are the hot names for DT at the moment.
(Not that I'm in the know)
I dont think we were strong in our push for him, now I think we are in position to push and/or maybe pushing...
cld this be a Nash nance.Da'Rick situation?
get Niles and AJ together ...
I m all for it
Yeah, I don't see any reason that this isn't a proposed package deal. A.J. is a fine linebacker, and Thomas could be a beast in the proper system. Also, I don't think this is a coincidence he decommitted. Probably means we see one or two DT's dismissed possibly.
Possibly, but you might be reading too much into it. If some of our current DTs are getting dismissed, we'll need to replace them with guys who can step in right away - either JUCOs or blue chip recruits who can enroll early and be ready to contribute as a true freshman.
Not saying Niles can't be a great DT, but he's more of a project.
Also, it'd be weird for him to decommit just because we called him up and started recruiting him again. Usually if a player is already committed and his dream school comes calls, he doesn't just decommit, he switches his commit to that school. When guys just decommit without switching, it's usually more the case that they aren't happy with their commitment school and want to open things up to several schools.
It's possible, but I doubt he decommitted just because CDD called him up and said we're interested in him again.
Pretty much the same as Niles. I'm okay with taking one guy at that level because of the ridiculous need at the position, but more than that is pushing it considering this program has needs at just about every position.
Well considering we might be down to 4-5 DT total after all of this is said and done we can't be to picky if someone like Niles wants to jump on board. Besides are we really in good enough shape with higher caliber players to say no thanks to guys like Carson and Niles?
