11' JUCO OL/C Dallas Hendrikson

 i assume they cant have him try and block a player, so what do they look for to gauge his skill?

I doubt they do an evaluation like you're talking about. I'd say they are just gonna get a feel for what kind of character he has and what his true size is.

I mean, I'm not sure, but that would be my guess.

I was being completely facetious... should have used an emoticon.

They'll probably have him do so drills for them, put him through interviews, get his measurables, et al.

they bring him all the way from idaho or wherever and dont even let him hit a tackle dummy? wow... i would have the kid out pushing a volkswagon in a gravel parking lot. make em sweat.

I thought it was a violation to have a recruit do any football related drill while on campus unless it was in a camp situation. My guess is that they'll show him the campus and the stadium. Talk to him and get a feel for his personality and his views on different things. Maybe break down some game film and gauge his football IQ, things of that nature.

He has the stats on paper to be a good player/center. If we offer him, then no one should asks questions on whether he is good enough because the staff obviously thinks so.

valid point, but it may just be adding a little depth in an emergency situation. i know you dont just add bodies, but our situation is very grim. i hope this kid can come in and suprise the h*** out of everybody. he will have the coaching, here, to succeed. the rest is up to him and his God given ability.

With us signing the other JUCO center could there still be a way for us to get Dallas in the 2010 class? We need all the depth we can get on the offensive line.

Over on Go Vols Extra it says that Dallas expects a final decision on offering him a scholly or not by Monday. I don't know how we'll work the numbers for the '10 class but I would be extremely excited if we can sign both Gooch and Hendikson.

Hubbs said that after meeting Gooch & Hendrickson that the staff has decided to take Gooch & will not offer Hendrickson.

That is also a valid point. I hope the staff isn't "settling" in order to create depth.

I think we still have the chance for Hendrikson, even though we signed Gooch. We need to depth on the OL, and both players look good on paper and film, so far.

i hope we take both also. it adds depth and its double the chance that we will have a great and experienced center on the O-line this year and next.

Hubbs said we decided on Gooch over Hendrikson. Sounds like Hendrikson won't be receiving a scholarship offer this year. Maybe next since he can stay in JUCO another year. Who knows?

It seems Gooch had a lot more work with the QB under center, this may have played a big role. Will not need as much work to get ready for this year
