11' JUCO OL/C Dallas Hendrikson

I agree with the former UN Sec Gen. I think he's bigger than anyone we have on campus right now, is that true? Is this another sign of Dooley quietly getting on with the business of making the team better? Seems like a great find in a quiet time when we could really use it.

this thread shows how even those who are supposed to be optimistic feel about the season.

some of you have been saying that the o-line won't be that horrible.

meanwhile, some juco from iowa may be offered a scholarship and he will start immediately at center and help provide stability on the offensive line.

if this kid signs and starts, then the situation on the offensive line is far worse than anyone thought and that's saying something.

Well UT eeked out 7 wins last year with a makeshift OL, and I think that gives some on the board false hope.

We are in a terrible predicament on the OL. I don't think anyone can sugar coat it. I haven't read any optimism on this board (from people that know what they are talking about anyway).

If this guy can play we need him badly....

I'm no recruiting expert, but his tape looks excellent to me. He moves very well for his size, seems to have some good strength and leverage, and doesn't quit on the plays.

I'm thrilled about this news personally. If our coaches have this kid coming for a visit, they see something they like. We need bodies on the OL!

I doubt he'll come in and play, unless he's gotten a lot stronger in the legs. If he gets playing time, then we're a lot worse off than I imagined. Good to have a body, though.

So will this kid have to have the extra math and english class required by the SEC when transferring from JUCO since he only spent one year there? This always seems to end up being an issue.

I agree with VagabondVol. His tape looks great. He moves very well for his size and he always puts a helmet on someone and by the time the play is over they are usually on the ground on their backside. There were a couple plays down inside the red zone he was able to get down field and take out a safety shows great hustle. He could start at center for me. Sign him. GBO

Let's say Hendrikson comes in and wows everyone and starts at center. Does that move Pope back to guard? And if Pope and Shaw are our guards, does Schofield bump D Thomas from a starting tackle spot?

If Pope bumps anyone it would be Shaw...who would go to the bench, not another starting spot...

Schoefield, James and Thomas are the only OL's currently on the roster that are capable of playing at a high level in the SEC...there's nothing short of grades or injury that will keep any of them out of the lineup

Lord Vader-
if it is true that we have only one scholly left, how would taking this guy impact the Brown brother's deal? If we take him (and he seems to help fill a huge position of need), does that mean we don't get Arthur Brown at LB? I don't say that in that we "need" BB & AB, but two extra bodies in the SEC at RB and LB can't hurt.

BTW- my neighbor's kid is the 2nd string center at Auburn. He was an invited walkon and they don't have the same talk of rebuilding that we get. This guy could be the real deal even though the didn't get offers. Shorter and close to 300lbs seem to be the standard for centers- give him a summer of S&C and let's go.

I don't know AB's situtation except that he was at Miami. Did he play last year at Miami? I don't think he was a major contributor is he did play. There is also the Brandon Warren exception to the sit out rule (not that he would get it) to play immediately for family hardships and if released by Shannon.

We just seem to need bodies (even though BB would need to "make up" for missing spring practice).

I think this guy could be our starting center. He has the ideal size, quick off the ball, and good mobility. If they offer they need to get him on campus asap for S & C program during the summer. Hopefully he can keep his weight were it is because he does not need to get any bigger.

I see an ESPN description calling him a tough cookie. I like guys who wrestled in HS on the OL. It has worked out many times for UT over the years.

the block at 1:20 was gorgeous

I thought so too....shows how quick footed he is as well as smart....he sold it pretty dang good huh! We need a kid that trully understands the center position....whether he wings us through the season or turns out to be a ginger diamond in the rough we need beef up front.....even if it is extra raw and bloody!

we have 2 scholly's for the '10 class left. Hendrikson would take one of those.

Brown would not take one. Transfers don't count in a recruiting class.
