'11 LA DT DeMarcus Hodge

He is 4th/5th best DT in the state, LSU has already signed 2 DT and we have 2-3 other 4 star guys in the mix and probably Chuck Hunter ahead of him as well at the moment from what I was told. At this time looking unlikely he will get an offer but who knows, long time between now and 2011, so I would say most probably going somewhere else, but other players have come to summer camp and got offers with no ranking by the services.

I don't think there should be excuses. LSU can offer him if they want. Regardless of an offer, I doubt he will seriously consider LSU. I would love to have him come to UT. Seems as if he has a hardworking attitude.

I am loving how he hates LSU! I think we're in good shape. Just have to stay on him.

Actually, I forgot about Gerrand Johnson so Hodge is probably the 6-7th best DT in the state IMHO. LSU will probably take 3 but 4 is possible, also one of our recruits Thomas there was some talk of maybe him playing DE, so 4 is possible. Unless he goes to their summer came then he would not be getting an offer before his senior year as is. I hope the best for the kid but he probably isn't doing himself any favors.

Louisiana has a huge supply of DTs but limited at DE for this year, so yes most probably he is not going to be at LSU and it was not his choice.

Unless, just maybe, the best favor he could possibly do for his career is to go anywhere other than a Les Miles-coached football team.

(To be fair, you are probably correct, though, that there are a few better DTs from LA - Scout has him 6th behind #3 Anthony Johnson, #24 Mickey Johnson, #30 Gerrand Johnson, #33 Quentin Thomas, #45 Chuck Hunter, #54 DeMarcus Hodge)

I'm gonna go ahead and say that's a biased opinion. No disrespect is meant with that satement, just obvious.

Or maybe go to a University that hired Kiffin, no?
The sad thing is he sounds mad that he hasn't got an offer, and no he is not doing himself any favors and it doesn't matter who the coach is.

I would probably rate Chuck Hunter higher than Gerrand Johnson but that list is close IMHO.

To be honest, he probably wouldn't make the top 100 players in the State right now, LSU probably only has 23-24 players they will sign this year, 11 spots already gone, quite a few big names left on the board. I really don't know what the kid is even thinking. It's like that kid that acted like he got big offers a few years ago.

I don't care what list he isn't on. If he isn't, the list is wrong imho especially lists that came out almost a year ago.

Find me 100 guys with an offer list as good as his. His offer list is much more impressive than Chuck Hunter's too so I'll put him above Hunter.

You don't know anything, you didn't even know about the guy until Tennessee offered. To be honest, he is not even close to being a hot topic, if the 5 best DTs in LA all got on a bus and it rolled off a cliff, maybe then he would be in the mix. As of right now, it isn't going to happen.

There is no right or wrong list, it's people's opinion, most LSU fans don't even know about this kid. He is basically crying about not getting an offer, end of story.

I hope the best for the kid wherever he goes but he clearly is not helping himself.

As far as you, you just want to argue, I assure you this guy has not been on any list long or short, that doesn't mean he couldn't be if he has some good camps or a good senior year. Based on his junior year he is not a high Louisiana recruit as of now. His best option is to move on to some of the school which he has wisely done if he expects an instant offer.

He didn't instantly become a top recruit in the State because Tennessee offered, far from it. There is going to be a whole line of decent players that won't be getting offers this year from LSU.

DandyDon's 2010 list was pretty accurate, I think only one offer outside his top 15 was given and that was to Tyrann Mathieu, who was a surprise at camp. This year there will probably be more outside his top 25, for instance he has Gerald Johnson at 86, which is way low. He will probably be playing at a big school.

The philosophy majors out there will recognize that the flaw in LSU-SIU's reasoning is that getting an offer from LSU is not a necessary condition for being a good player (and, arguably, an LSU offer alone isn't a sufficient condition either).

I never said any such thing.

I never said he was not a good player, I said he is not a high-level recruit by most people's opinion on this subject that track recruits within LA at this time. I would say he is the 6th or 7th best DT in the State. Of course, it's just an opinion, but most fans have no idea who he even is.

Whether or not LSU offered or not is not a condition as to whether or not he is a good player anymore than if it's a condition if Tennessee offered him.

He simply is not on anyone's radar in the state right now, of course that can change with some good camps and a good senior year.

As far as the kid, I feel bad for him because he is very confused almost as bad as the kid that acted like he got an offer from Cal a few years back. It's the equivalent of me saying I am not going to wait around for LA Lakers to pick up my contract and that coach Phil Jackson is a dirt bag.

He has plenty of offers from some pretty big schools, LSU simply is not going to send an offer to ever good DT in the state this year. The kid could certainly turn out to be very good, but there simply is no way to take them all. He is taking it as an insult or something.

Like I said LSU is going to be leaving a lot on the table this year.

LSU has two signed DTs Freak Johnson and Q. Thomas, with in-state offer to Mickey Johnson with in-state Chuck Hunter and G. Johnson as possibilities but no offer. LSU also has 4 out of state DTs that have been sent offers Tim Jernigan, Gabe Wright, Kevin McReynolds, and Jesse Williams.

lol at the corndog spin. I love it.

no doubt this kid is a top player in the state of LA and is the 5th best DT at worst according to college head coaches.

hope we can pull him in.

Now, from what I've read and seen on video, Hodge is a player. No doubt about it. I hope we can get him in Orange. You should know, LSU, Dorsey was a lousy 3* and wasn't much to talk about out of HS. Look what he grew into...

"Those four are kind of sticking out - Arkansas, Mississippi State, Tennessee and TCU," he said. "Tennessee, I've heard a lot of great things about them and I plan on taking an official visit there, too."

- Rivals

He has picked up an Ole Miss offer.

one of the best DTs of the decade and would be a star in the NFL had that punk Pugh not taken his legs out.
