Top-15 safety Patrick Martin appeared set to stay at home in his native South Carolina with the Gamecocks, but his trip to Knoxville, Tenn., went better than expected.
"Tennessee sells itself," the four-star recruit told Phil Kornblut who covers Palmetto State recruiting.
South Carolina, UNC and LSU are still in his sights, but Martin tells Kornblut that he's decided not to take a planned visit to LSU in July. He'll attend Steve Spurrier's showcase camp on July 23, so the Gamecocks aren't out of it yet.
Martin said he'll choose a school this summer prior to the start of his season. The Vols could use him, considering they have just one other four-star committed. On the other hand, he'd easily be the Gamecocks highest-rated recruit thus far.
Posey has been on him since he committed. Facebook can sometimes hurt but can help too. Cool how HS seniors across the country stay in touch with each other through the recruiting process.
ESPN Lol, awesome.Pat Martin falls in love with Tennessee, Vols on top
Four-star safety Patrick Martin (Greenville, S.C./Mann) told ESPN affiliate Web site VolNation.com after a visit to Knoxville, "They're number one, they're my leaders."
He continued, "I see it as this: Tennessee is my wife, the other school's are my girlfriends. It's going to take a lot to get me to divorce my wife. I'll be back to Tennessee twice in July, once early and later in the month."
LSU, South Carolina, UCLA and North Carolina are also in Martin's top group. He also mentioned visiting Florida and Georgia.
He posted a 4.65 40-yard dash, 4.28 20-yard shuttle and 30.5-inch vertical along the combine circuit this spring.
To which position do you see Swann projecting?
He's still coming off his high from his visit. If he wanted to be committed at this point, he would have pulled the trigger this weekend. You love the fact that we are obviously solidly in the lead at the moment, but there is a reason he didn't officially commit.
