'11 SC S Pat Martin - UT Signee

i think if he gets up to around 225 or 230 by his sophmore year and keeps his speed somewhere in the 4.6 range then he can be a veryyy good player but that is easier said than done and i do not expect this kid to contribute immediately much. i think he is going to be a redshirt or special teams player his first year.

Cant wait to see this guy play for the VOls. Maybe its a gut feeling, but watching his tapes to me he seems like in a few years he will be "that guy". The All-American OLB who can lead the defense. His role model Eric Berry is probally one of the greatest players to ever be a Vol. He will want to bring that back. We could also have Berry visit and talk to him, and help this guy learn. He will be a Vol!

thanks man

(first day and already made a rookie mistake)

haha he is being recruited as a saftey you knew what you were saying man i just think with all we have and are bringing in the secondary and dire need of lbs he will eventually grow into it. he has the frame for 215-220 easily

If Loften makes it in and we get him, I think Martin could possibly move to OLB, but if not I still think Martin is a SS.

I really hoping that Martin will be the next head hunter/ball hawk in the secondary. Berry was special for sure, but being as good as JJ is, I think he can still work on a few things. He's a ball hawk for sure, but I've noticed (and I may be in the minority here) that he seems to whiff on a lot of tackles. I've also noticed that he throws a shoulder almost 80% of the time instead of arm tackling. Is it me?

Thats what almost all of our defense did this year so he should fit in

No I noticed it too. When he make the tackle he hits you hard but misses alot of tackles too which seems kind of weird. I think they try to copy off of Eb (the whole secondary) and goes for a big shoulder hit and ends up missing.
