Apparently redshirt = project which is not the case.

So you are ok with us signing players that have to redshirt? In a time where our talent pool is as low as it has been in 15 years, we need immediate contributors.

You know this reality. Everyone does. I am ok with filling out a roster with these type of kids later on in the process.

You can't sign 25 instant starters. For one, there are only 22 spots in football and probably 19 will be filled by upperclassmen.

Yes.

There aren't 25 spots open for kids to play immediately. There will always be kids that redshirt in every class at nearly every school across the country.

Everyone knows that there aren't 25 spots open for immediate play, however, it doesn't mean sign a project player in hopes that he develops to a starter. Alabama and Florida have top notch guys they reload with. They are the ones that can afford to take the project players. In Tennessee's situation, they need as many players who can contribute immediately. Whether starting or playing reps as a back up and on ST.
If Tennessee wants to get some kids to fill out a roster, I can understand focusing on this later on, but not right now and this early.

He will have to adjust to the speed of the college game and will have to get better in coverage

he ran a 4.16 shuttle at camp last year. that was the fastest shuttle of ANYONE at camp including guys like Ambles, Mathieau, Jarvis Landry, Jabriel, Devrin, etc.

This could be said for almost any player. I'm sorry, even kids who play in the almighty Florida will have to adjust to SEC speed.

that's great, but I am not going to put tons of stock into one drill he did well. his entire body of work is more important imo

Actually, the shuttle is where it's at. Having a good shuttle time is better than being fast twitch or having loose hips, and even better than having "intangibles".:p

He might end up being the next Al Wilson. However, there are a lot of other LBs that I would rather have at this point.

Very true VFN but a 4.16 shuttle is impressive as it is but with his size! Sign him up!

Not yet. According to Scout he has offers from Syracuse and UTC.

Because everyone else's opinion is way more valuable and informed. Except right now, he has two offers. Again, there are MANY other LBs on the board I would rather have right now.
