I think Elston is similar to Brian Randolph. Their measurables in high school are very close and both could play CB or S in college.

I think Randolph is going to be a very very good player...but Elston will be a notch better. JMO.

Wow...Considering how good Brian is playing as a true freshman, That is some high praise. By the time BR leaves Knoxville he will be a highly drafted player imo.

Did not name a leader but Clemson no longer in it for him now.

DB Trae Elston (6-0 183) of Oxford, AL is no longer looking at Clemson. The Tigers were in his top five but have stopped contacting Elston. "I haven't heard from them in a while," he said. "They wanted me to go ahead and commit early but I wasn't ready. Their class started to fill up so there isn't really room for me." Elston now has a top six of LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida and Florida State. He plans to take official visits to Tennessee and LSU but has not set dates for either visit. He did not name a leader.

Clemson no longer involved with Elston

UT and GT are the only two of those that are pushing right now.

These are the type of guys we've got to take from down here. We were at our best when we were getting players from Bama and Georgia. Jason Allen, Jayson Swain, Aaron Sears, Joey Kent, Tee Martin and others helped keep us at the top for a while. Hopefully we get Elston and build a pipeline to that High School. Oxford produces big talent every year. A lot of my buddies and I are going to start going to all the top prospects in the state games next year. So I'll be able to give you a lot of feedback on what certain guys look like from down here.

I think 3rd-4th round right now if I had to project him from what I've seen so far.

I think when he is able to play without thinking, you will really see how good he is. Kid has also got a lot of heart, which is something that is hard to measure. Considering he will probably end up starting 45-50 games barring injury, I think he will go higher.

He's a safety too. Plus we don't know his 40 time or how he'll progress athletically. We'll see, I'm glad he's on my squad.

Is this kid a pure safety, or any chance he can play corner? Given how we have to move guys around every week, it would be cool to have a utility player.

Judging by his size and the direction our coaches want to take this defense I'd say we're recruiting him as a corner.

Alan Carson's development and early playing time has helped us a lot here. Elston sees the opportunity to get on the field early. Don't be surprised if we land him. Would be a big addition to our secondary.

He's a lot like Waggner with more speed and a lot better tackling. Very physical at the point of attack. Would be a big pickup for us. We've got to get back to getting these type of guys out of this state.
