Seems like the staff merely takes these kids commits early on in the process to keep up the appearance of some recruiting momentum.

It's hard for me to give Dooley a hard time about this right now. If he believes freeing up a scholarship is what is best for the team right, then go for it. No sense in getting caught up in the emotional aspect of it (even if cutting him loose does make him look like a jackass).

He needs to stop this BS. I liked Henderson as player personally. He's going to be pretty good after putting on weight. I don't like that we are doing this in Georgia too. The Cross situation kinda puzzled me. I would've rather had Cross instead of Alden Hill. Que Watson is another one that kinda took me by surprise. They may cut Redding next. Which would be 3 prospects from Georgia we would be doing like this. Don't know why they are trying to create momentum with 3 stars instead of taking real commits and being done with the situation. I like Henderson a lot though. And hope he doesn't get to play for UGA. He's the type of sleeper that usually kills us.

Dooley can't win, and now he's running off recruits.... Hope he has a very good back up plan...I might start to think he's sabotaging this program on purpose.

Dooley keeps putting the same product on the field, fans will start to go away...

His entire team was FR and SOPH, what were your real expectations on the field? 3 soph and 1 true fr on the o-line. A true fr was our best rb. A true soph at qb, and our two best wr were soph. 2 of our 3 starting lb's were true fr. Despite all of that, when healthy, we destroyed a good Cinicinati team and played Florida and Georgia close. What did we truly expect?

Pat Willis 2.0? aside from him being recruited and committed already to an SEC school.. But he doesn't have a high offer list, good athleticism, and Ole Miss is now a poss..

Oh I understand. How young we were.. I just don't understand the regression, playcalling. The fact that our line or scheme was so pathetic last year....I thought players were supposed to improve from one year to the next, not get worse.

CDD worked under Saban and it looks like he learned nothing. Learn how the recruiting game is played. Sign them up and then run them off after a couple of years if they don't develop the way you like. Cutting kids doesn't get near the attention as pulling a kid's Scholly because you think you found somebody who you think may be better.

Good luck young man. Just one of many disappointments you'll have in life. You'll be fine.

A month before NSD isn't exactly plenty of time.

Didn't you read the quote that said he was told this might happen when he committed and prepared for the possibility? I read that article over and over and I just can't believe that biased writer neglected to put that very important quote in there.

Above is a use of sarcasm.

I am interested to hear the spin of the "our staff never does anything remotely wrong" crowd after that article. Simply a necessary but dirty part of recruiting. If your not willing to say its dirty your not being true to the process.

It's not dirty. We didn't lie to the kid. Like you said, we told him upfront that this could happen. How does this mean constituet our staff doing something wrong?

Ahhh. This isn't a good look. I had a feeling this was coming when we took Khalid's commitment last summer. I wish the best of luck to the kid. It's a tough dilemma.

I was using sarcasm. I am do not believe for a second he was told it was a possibility that it would happen when he committed. I don't care what poster says we did!

Here is his quote when he commited. It clearly points out that UT is looking at other LB's. He had an offer, but there is a difference from getting an offer and getting papers to sign in February. Every school and coach makes offers and distinguishes the offers to the recruits as commitable now or not.

"I went up there on June 6 and showed out in camp and they really liked me and they were already recruiting me before that and I showed out, had a tour of the school, had a great feel about the school," Henderson said. "I talked to coach Dooley and he told me the deal that they were looking at probably three or four linebackers and they were going to keep evaluating and offer from there.

Was there more to that quote? Like "they told me if they find enough better linebackers my scholly will not be there"

They evaluated and offered.

My mistake. Sarcasm tends to get lost over the internet.

I would guess that since the implementation of the 25 limit rule, this has been happening consistently for many SEC schools.
