'12 GA RB Imani Cross (Nebraska Commit)

Just got on for the first time in about a month and I was reading Alden Hill's thread when I read that Imani was considering UVA. That was an immediate red flag to me and so I hopped over here to give my take on the situation if this is true. I played for the same high school and the same head coach as Imani, the guy was a complete tool. I have to say, this concerns me because Imani's head coach was also the head football coach for Anthony Poindexter in high school and Poindexter is on the coaching staff for UVA. Poindexter was far and away his most beloved player during his coaching career. I have no doubts that the head coach is pushing Imani to go to UVA. He did the same thing with a prior running back at the school TJ Pitts. TJ was interested in Miss. State but the head coach pushed him to go to UVA by the time national signing day had come around the head coach had helped burn all the bridges with other schools recruiting TJ and in the end UVA told TJ they wanted him to go to Hargrave for a year to bulk up and make some good grades, which is exactly what he didn't want. The kid ended up signing with Memphis because he was still in contact with the coach there. Needless to say, i've seen this rodeo before and it's not good. That entire coaching staff that surrounds Imani right now will push for him to go to UVA. My fingers are crossed that he won't buy into their bull sh*t.

Great info.

I am not sure what Cross is thinking. He was looking around..and maybe now he is a VFL. I would guess the Hill commit should tell us something within the next few days. Another poster said that Hill took the last RB spot. I think we are looking at a class of either Hill/Cross/and Norfleet or Just Hill and Norfleet. Norfleet has 3 offers. I saw where Michigan St already has 2 smaller backs commited. Most on here have said they think Norfleet was ready to commit if offered to Tennessee. I can't see us losing this kid to Cinci which is his only other offer. I think 2 backs would be fine in this class...but 3 would be alright...I just hate taking away spots from the front 7. I saw where Hill did line up some at FB on his highlights. I could see where Cross/Hill could line up on the 5 yard going in....one at TB and one at FB and do some damage.

Were not taking any fewer than 2. Would think 2 or 3, but doubt 1 or 4. Think 2 Rb's and 3-4 WR's would be about right. But the coachs know their needs more than any of us, and doubt they ask any of our opinions.

Cross wavered and we recruited a similar RB to fill our need. I personally think Cross is the better back but there isn't a huge gap between the two IMO and Cross's comments were not leaving the staff real confident in him being part of this class. I don't personally see the problem here.

Interesting info, thanks for posting :good!:

What's the latest news on Cross? Are our coaches still talking with him? Are we targeting other RB prospects?

To answer your question, no, there isn't really anything new. He is still a solid commit, but he is "looking at other options when they arise."

As should we. Can't wait until Grice takes his official.

Imani Cross is the best RB in the state of GA, last year he had a set back with the injury but wait till this year his stats will explode because he is completely healthy and the Curry brothers transferred to FB so North Hall will go back to there bread and butter which is running the football. Ive heard from many players state that tackling Imani is like being hit by a truck and that for a few days they were so bruised up it was hard to move around. Trust me we really want to keep this guy. If you live in GA or want to come to GA for a game come to the Stephens Co vs North Hall game last year Thornton and Cross put on a show between both of them they probably had 500 yards rushing and it came down to the wire with Stephens Co winning in the last seconds.

OV, i was just thinking it would be nice to have some IC input from you. thanks.

The Curry's transferred to FB? But daddy Curry was an asst. coach at NTH. What happened?

I don't think anyone is saying they do not want Cross as part of our RB class...I think it's just the flipping back and forth he keeps doing.

Seems like Cross is the most likely to jump ship. May not be true and I would still love to have him, but that's just the impression that I get. Hope he has a good senior year.

All I know is North Halls Qb and the Curry brothers went to FB. I believe there dad is coaching at FB now because they didn't have to sit out a year because of the new transfer rules in GA. Imani is healthy and the whole offense is built around him now North Hall is back to what they do best and that's running they got a little pass happy last year and alot of fans where upset about that.

Awesome.

He committed early and probably just wants to take some official visits. Can't blame him. Hope we keep him.
