"I'm committed but I'm not closing the door on other schools, if that makes any sense. There are no schools in particular that I'm considering, but I want to have an open mind."
Cross said he hasn't spoken with any coaches in a while, though he does keep up with some through Facebook on a semi-regular basis.
One of the reasons he's not 100-percent with the Vols, it seems, is that he hasn't built a great relationship with the coaching staff in Knoxville. There's no hostility, of course, but he could be closer to the coaches.
"Me and Coach (Terry) Joseph don't talk very much so it's not some close-knit relationship," Cross admitted. "It's just an every once in a while thing where he'll stop in and say 'Hi'. That's the kind of deal it is. I don't have that great relationship with him yet.
Cross said that it will still take a lot for a school to convince him to back out of his commitment to the Vols. His biggest factors are academics, the depth chart and the style of play at each respective school he's considering.
So where does the big running back stand now? "I'd put myself somewhere in the middle of the two, between solid and soft," Cross said with a laugh. "I'm kind of solid but at the same time I'm sticking my head in some other places."
With all his quotes about Tennessee , you would think he has his mind made up. Then again , this is the second time he has decided to "look at other options". Can't wait to read how he is solid to Tennessee again , only to change his mind for a third time. I don't believe anything these kids say anyway. The only thing that matters is what they do on signing day.
Haven't we been hearing how high he is on our board? If that's true, I don't think he's just staying on because he might lose his spot.
