'12 JUCO DE Demarcus Lawrence (Boise St commit)

Sorry dude...didn't mean to cause a stir...just wondering how this guy fits in our plans

I generally read too much into things. I thought you knew something about the situation that hadn't been mentioned. My apologies

Everybody here seems to think Lawrence is a replacement for Autry. I haven't seen anything hint otherwise.

I may have missed something on Lewis but I haven't heard anything about replacing him but if We were getting Autry then I don't we would still be discussing Lawrence.

The kid looks like he is undersized compared to some of our WRs. I would not think that is a good thing with him being a DE. Maybe the UT jersey was just "slimming" on him. He did not look anywhere near 250lbs to me.

Do you guys agree that Lawrence is being looked at as a pash rushing specialist kind of player?

His size seems to limit the chances he can be an every down lineman.

Demarcus was a cool guy. He was pretty quiet though. But jmoore is spot on. Of we want this kid, he is ours. It was quite funny though, even though hes from SC he doesn't know much about TN. Also people are talking about how he hits, but he really needs to put on about 20-30 lbs. No way this kid weighs around 250.

I would think taking undersized Juco kids would not be ideal. Maybe he could add size quickly, but if he didn't he could never see the field before his time was up here.

I am thinking Wilcox has thrived in finding a way to scheme to make guys like this guy, an obvious player as his stats show but maybe not prototypical, effective. I mean isn't that what Wilcox does?

I am not disagreeing with what your saying but you could look at it from the other side. If he doesn't pan out that scholly comes back to you in 2 years as opposed to 4 or 5 with a hs kid.

That or when he gets up to SEC weight he can't keep his speed. We need a guy who can contribute immediately. This guy would be a player in the future, but sec linemen would eat him up. He'd never make it. I may eat crow and I would gladly do it, but I think that UT puts tis guy on hold to see if it pans out with some other highly recruited guys.

Could he be a pass rushing specialist that plays only on those downs?

I think he may have been known for doing that at Boise State. I am not sure if you can do it in the SEC. There are alot of smaller, slower, kids out in those smaller MWC/WAC schools and you can get away with taking athletes as opposed to needing a certain type of player to compete in the SEC.

I think if the staff liked what they saw in person on his OV then he will be a Vol. Kind of like that FL LB that ended up in AZ (I think, can't remember his name at the moment). They could have had that LB last fall but after seeing him in person they passed. This guy feels like a kid that will be a Vol if the staff like his size in person. JMO

Gionni Paul I think is who you are thinking of, but ended up switching to the U.

Pictures can be deceiving..nobody was freaking out about autrys weight.. I would bet that they really are pretty similar.

Tyler Bray is way too skinny to play in the sec... He will be killed if he ever starts a game...Same with Justin Hunter

While I see what your saying, it is nowhere near the same. Bray has 5+ guys protecting him. Hunter, even being as lean as he is still has some size on alot of DBs. An undersized DE, has to face off with 300lb tackles all day long. Ideally, you would like your DE, to be bigger than the other teams RB.

I hung out with the guy for like three hours? But.. Pictures of someone's size.. I can't stop laughing haha.
