So in your opinion the productive off the chart numbers are just smoking mirrors and a result of bad competition?

Yeah I think so. But let's see what head has to say too. Because I wasn't crazy over this guy especially as a juco. I like Trent Taylor a lot more at DE.

I was talking more to the dude that wanted to s*** to me. I really don't know what defensive scheme has DEs just going inside every play. Lol

No scheme does....his video is close to 10 plays...so I don't know where you get every play.....and there is a reason he is coming down...not doing it just for the hell of it...

I don't watch films so this may be a dumb question. Who makes the highlight films? If its the kids, sounds like lawrence didn't do a good job of editing out bad plays.

So you like the guy as a prospect or not? Also I have never seen a DE crash every play on his highlight clip. Most of the time there's a twist or something to go with it. Remember Jac Smith crashing in when he wasn't supposed to? You can get away with it in juco but you pay for it in the SEC. Also another thing that concerns me is he's hardly bigger than Da'Rick Rogers in the photo from the locker room. I really hope we don't reach on a guy like this if we don't have to. I really hope Jordan Williams comes alive for us at DE. I like him as a talent.

Usually coaches or some member of football staff make highlight films. Or there are certain recruiting services that make highlight videos for prospects.

+1. Trent Taylor is a much better DE prospect than this guy is. I just hope they keep Trent at DE and dont move him to DT out of necessity.

The only plausible reason I can see them going after this JUCO kid is because they are very worried about their situation at DE and are scrambling much like they are right now at RB just to get bodies and pray one of them surprises them and works out.

In this instance it looks like a coach just sent in a game film to rivals (the highlight is just from a single game).

In high school it is a mixture of both coaches and players...

I agree with what Montrell said...Coaches are scrambling to find an EE DE. Which we desperately need.

But he doesn't crash inside every play just to do it. He is either reading the TE/T (which you should do unless there is a stunt call on), it looked like a pinch was called one play (the play he explodes straight down with no read), and there are two plays he takes care of his responsibility and makes the tackle towards the inside.

Not trying to be a Pre-Madonna...but I think you mean smoke and mirrors

So - is their a conclusion from the VN experts on this thread?

Is it just coincidence that Wilcox might want someone that Boise State also wants? C'mon folks, we run the same schemes as Boise. Unless you are buddies with Wilcox you have no idea what attributes he is looking for with a particular recruit. I agree with the camp that said Lawrence was part of the back-up plan. Autry could play in any scheme - those guys are rare. So if there are none left and you need to beef it up you go after a guy that matches the schemes you use the most.

IMO, you wont hear anything about this guy & Tennessee until next week. Tennessee is still trying to get a in home visit w/ Autry to try & flip him, if they cant they might let this guy commit.

I'm sure that's what they're doing. Scrambling. There's no way they're putting any effort into evaluation. They just want a body.

I am not at all saying he's a bad player I just don't think he's someone who could come in and be an immediate contributor that you would want from a juco player. He's super athletic that's apparent but raw IMO.

If he was a high school kid then hell yea go for it.

who was he being recruited by when coming out of high school? did he commit to anyone then?

Your right. If we ant this dude he's ours. I think well snag someone better though.

Lawerence really enjoyed his visit, his parents also really liked it. Tennessee put themselves right up there w/ KSU & BSU.
