I don't think a kid looking at the current state of a program and where he thinks it is headed as a bad thing. Wins and bowl games from 25 years ago mean little when your wanting to put yourself in a good position for the 2 years your going to be at the school now. Obviously he thinks State is a better team for him right now.

Mississippi state always has, and always will suck. Except for the once or twice every decade, decent team. They suck this year, and are going to suck next year. He had a chance to do something really great at UT. To be one of the players that helped restore UT to it's rightful place in CFB.

Yes. It's hard for me to believe that something shady didn't happen, considering the MS JUCOs' history and the fact that Mullen is a terrible recruiter.

That is what I was thinking. It also doesn't make sense because a lot of people seem to think (even here) that Mullen will be the head guy at PSU soon. Doesn't seem right for him to go there when Mullen is leaving unless it's just his coach putting the pressure on him.

Both of my parents graduated from State. Starkville might be in the middle of nowhere and not have much to do, but it's not a ****hole. The campus is beautiful. The stadium is....not Neyland...but since the renovation, it looks nice.

I grew up going there once a year. I've never understood why it gets such a bad rap.

Now, that being said....Autry is crazy for going to State over UT.

The hate on this board is insane. A kid makes a decision he feels is best for him and he becomes enemy #1. Talk of shady recruiting, we did not need him, any player who picks UT will be better all sounds like a bunch of 5 year olds who had their ball taken from them.

Sometimes back to back losing seasons and talk of players throwing games while the coaches sit back and just roll with the punches will hurt recruiting and trying to land the better talent. As UT fans, we can ignore it or say it is not happening and we are still Tennessee. The fact remains, most outside UT see it as a doormat right now.

The wife is a MState fan and I always take her to UT vs MSU games. I have been to the campus several times and it is nice but there is nothing else to do there. I have always enjoyed my visits there and other than the cow bells the fans were pretty nice.
