'12 JUCO DE Denico Autry (MSU signee)

You may know this already but I just read this on ESPN this AM. I thought I would share...I hope the coaching staff can lock him in and we can sign him up...

"AUSTIN, Texas -- There seems to be some confusion as to whether heralded junior college defensive end Denico Autry (Scooba, Miss./East Mississippi Community College) will take an official visit to Texas on Nov. 19 or not.

Autry, who holds an offer from Texas, told HornsNation on Sunday that he “thinks he set one up” for this weekend in Austin.

“But I haven’t heard from them so I don’t know my status,” Autry said.

Autry said that if he does come down for the visit he could be joined by teammate Brandon Moore, a defensive tackle. Moore (6-foot-6, 330 pounds) signed with Alabama out of high school when current Texas defensive tackles coach Bo Davis was on the Crimson Tide’s staff.

When asked what he likes about Texas, Autry said, “They always have a good team. They always have a good program.”

Autry (6-6, 245) did say that he was going to take official visits to Mississippi State, most likely on Nov. 25, and to Miami (Fla.). He wasn’t sure when he would visit the Hurricanes.

He listed his top three schools as Tennessee, Mississippi State and Alabama."

You may be right, but there is NOTHING in that article that would make me worry about anything, especially with Texas. Sounds like he doesn't really care if he makes it out there or not.

true but i think if he wanted to come to tenn he would have already commited. idk im prob wrong i dontt know a whole lot about recruiting except what i read on here but it seems like this deal is being stretched out a long time, which i dont see that being good for tenn. Like i said im prob wrong just worried about this one bc of it being a position of need. Maybe if tenn doesnt get him they get hamilton instead. thanks for the info guys keep it coming

One more followup - I sort of got the suspicion from some earlier posts that perhaps maybe it might just be possible that Autry & Meredith might commit to us this weekend. If that happens our score will move up to 1688.606 and assuming no one else changes on the team rankings then after the update we would be in 6th place, one notch above LSU. :dance2:

Wow! That would be great PR.

Texas may be a long shot. Great recruiting classes last few years, maybe why they (Texas) haven't contacted him back to finalize his OV. But then again last year they only brought in 2 DE's and thus far only have one committed

JMO All Vol at this point in the year unless Autry is all of a sudden wanting to be in a conference that has only 10 teams with the roman numeral XII (12)..

I come in peace! I'm an MSU Bulldog fan and I'm here because we've had several good recruits in common and actually narrow their list down to our schools. Will Redmond, Jason Croom, Ben Brown, and now Autry. I want to clear some things up that I have knowledge about. Some of you may think Autry is a lock to UT but I promise you he is not. How many times has he officially or unofficially UT? I can tell you that he's been to MSU unofficially several times. He also has an "official" visit next week. I'm not saying that he won't come to UT because his JUCO teammate coming and that's a big plus, but it's far from a lock. He loves our DC and he loves the fact that Fletcher Cox and Josh Boyd has told him personally that they will return for their senior year. He knows that will free him up to make a lot of plays next year. He knows that our D is 17th in points allowed and UT is probably middle of the road. He knows we lose only two seniors on a top 20 D and one happens to be the position he plays.

This guy is anything but a lock, his coach is definitely wanting him to look at other schools. Read past articles re: what his coach has said about Autry's recruitment. Jacobs is not a lock either.

The good thing is Texas may lose their final 4 games of the season and finish 6-6 or 7-5, with one win. They have SERIOUS injury problems right now on offense and are currently playing a 4th string tailback. Additionally, they have glaring wholes in their secondary, so they may come after McNeil too. Regardless, Texas isn't what they were a few years ago. They don't have a proven QB and Mack Brown will either be on the serious hot seat next year, or may will be fired at the end of the season if they finish 6-6. Texas fans are pissed right now. I think they will give him 1 more year because their team is very young, like ours.

Based off some of the morning info he would probably choose Ala. and even Texas over MSU.

Sorry homie. GAME OVER :mf_surrender:

So are you saying that he will choose UT?

IMO yes. named us his leader and also is an EE so I could see him taking a few more trips but besides the argument you presented about why he would go to MSU is the equivalent to hearing all the posters on here also being so confident on Autry to UT.

Also i am a big time fan so it's hard not to be bias lol

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the info.

We are very confident based on posters with very credible info. Their thoughts are that he is a silent commit. We pretty much take such credible posters info to the bank. So we are not coming from out of left field. :hi:

This tells me all I need to know... Don't feel badly about Autry at all after seeing this thanks OCI and welcome aboard Autry as far as I'm concerned

just to clarify. OCI didn't say "whom" autry would be deciding for. he just said that he would be deciding soon. has he said that autry is choosing UT?

He has recently named us his leader. The talk from OCI et al after his visit with Jacobs was that they are both silents... OCI came out and said he's choosing soon, yes he did not say he's choosing us, but I think that's b/c you can never actually be 100% certain with 18-19 year old kids. Have a very good feeling about Autry
