'12 JUCO DE Denico Autry (MSU signee)

if the situation were right he would reunite with peterson. its looking like the ucla/peterson thing will not happen. wilcox didnt care for m brown last year, said he was arrogant and assumed wilcox would take the offer because it was texas. but for anyone to say 100% fact that wilcox isnt going anywhere is very bold this time of year. ive heard it from the horses mouth, if the right situation were to arise he would be gone.

he likes it here very well and is happy here. but take for instance if the oregon dc job came open, he would be gone in a second if they called and sirmon would be on the same plane with him, unless made him an offer he couldnt refuse.

i think we're safe this year in retaining both of them. wilcox would not take a hc job like memphis. the only thing that bothers me is peterson is wanting out of boise, he and wilcox are very close. but even then it would have to be the right situation for wilcox to leave.

Why does he want out of Boise now - they are paying him and giving him a ton of leverage, including the facility that he wanted. He has a lot of say in what happens there - why does he want out now?

Not saying he doesn't, I just don't know why he would.

Who says Peterson wants out of Boise? He has been offered every job opening in the past 3 or 4 years and has not taken any of them.

Objectivity? Would you care to explain to the group why you think UT is a sinking ship? Please feel free to cite any statistics, coaching changes, player transfers/attrition, or recruit decommitments. Why wouldn't you take a chance on Dooley? Sorry, losing to UK is not a valid answer.

I think Autry likes the Vols and will end up here. To ask someone to state a reason why anyone would not take a chance on CDD and to give statistics as to why is not the best question to toss out there.

A career losing record as a HC would be plenty for most people to write him off.

The raise will apply to each of the five years remaining on his contract. Petersen made $1.49 million, including a longevity incentive, in 2010. The raise increases his total compensation to $1.525 million in 2011, $1.625 million in 2012, $1.725 million in 2013, $1.825 million in 2014 and $1.875 million in 2015.

Autry said a couple days ago on 247 that is visit to MSU went well, and that he can see himself have the same playing time and impact at both schools. When asked about UT being his leader and if thats changed he said,

"I would say things changed a little bit but some things didn't change that much and remained the same." (lol)

He also said "I will probably just sign on December 15th when I go back home (to North Carolina)," said Autry. "I am not having a big ordeal or press conference. I will just decide and sign with a school on that date."

So looks like Dec. 15 is the date to get excited for!

He owns that school and is getting paid huge money with no expectations or real pressure plus they are moving to a BCS conference that they will own.

I understand, but why not try your luck at a school that has a BCS tie in. At Bsu, they aren't even a realistic possibility to get to ever play for a championship with an undefeated season. I understand he has it made there though.

After seeing Hawkins fail, I could believe he's hesitant to leave. Think he'll succeed wherever, though.

As I sorta do as well. I would love to have him at UT, even though those odds are as low as his team ever playing for the BCS crown.

Good thing you are not him.

yes. for the sake of UT football, i'm glad he is dumber than me for picking UT. Hey, we win if he picks us, but I worry about kids wishing for a good college career coming out of JUCO and thinking UT is such a great choice, regardless of early PT. We're bad.

It depends on the situation. If a recruit is a Juco and has just 2 years to play then he needs to go where he feels he can play right away. If your a DE and go to a team with 12 4-5 star DEs your taking a very big risk of seeing the field.

With that being said if you feel you can start at Alabama or Tennessee and both have said as much, unless your just a life long VOL fan your silly to not pick Alabama. The NFL will find you no matter where you are playing, but if your the big dog on a lame duck team you will see alot more double teams and teams can dictate your numbers and production. Alot less likely to happen if your surrounded by good players and are dominating and winning.

how do you get better without good players committing to you?

Thats kind of my point, if Autry is a competitor, then he has to believe that the NFL will find him anywhere he goes, because LT has proved nothing to my current knowledge as far as producing NFL D-Linemen. But regardless, I hope he makes the correct decision in the end, for his college and post-college career, and I hope that it is UT. It would be bad to see all of these potential 1st rounder JUCO guys got to UT and Dooley be canned next year or this offseason. Go Vols.
