Expecting Hunter to not have some type of drop off next year just isn't realistic. He's a freak and a great player, but rehabbing away from football for 8 months is going to have an effect.

It's not like he's gonna miss any practice time or camps. If he drops off it will be a small one.

You are correct. It is very rare for a guy to return that quickly but a few do. It probably helps that he isn't heavy for his frame.

Um, he missed the majority of the season. He was on crutches for weeks and missed tons of practice time.

That type of thinking is setting yourself up for disappointment. It's not realistic.

Any day he isn't catching passes... he is dropping off. Not saying he can't catch up or that what would be left isn't better than just about any CFB WR... but you don't "not do something" that requires refined skill for a long period without a drop off.

We can just agree to disagree then. The fact that he missed most of the season only strengthens my point. He will have almost a year from the time of his injury until his next game.

Physically I think he'll be 100% first game, but mentally is he gonna trust his knee to go up for a jump ball or make a cut? It takes time to regain that trust.

lol. Ok. So much for that practice makes perfect theory.

Not to mention working off any rust, getting his timing right, his footwork, getting back up to game speed. That's why players practice. You don't just walk on the field and you're good. Not at this level.

I'm not saying he's going to be bad. I'm just saying don't expect him to be as good as he was at the start of this year. I think that's very unrealistic.

I should add this. I know how tyler and justin are. if justins knee is ready sometime in the summer like most feel, those two will work relentlessly together own their own time.

Bray follows Hunter's lead. Can't emphasize enough how big a loss Hunter was this year.

I'll say this, when Patterson does make a decision I will be refreshing this thread every 10 seconds! Can you imagine, whether its good news or bad, the gifs that will pop up on this thread about this guy committing to us or somewhere else? Epic.

I thought he was announcing on Friday? He push the date back because he isn't an EE?

Since he's not eligible to enroll as an EE anymore, he says he is going to go "all the way to NSD," before he makes a decision.

Very interesting, and very positive for UT, if the staff is in fact NOT going to hold a spot for Patterson. The staff must be confident of getting better talent at more critical positions if they are willing to pass on him. Getting Howard today helps us at WR, but I don't think it completely substitutes for Patterson, they are two totally different types of receiver.
