Ridiculous. Our program is in the dumps right now. We are a mediocre, middle of the pack SEC team, and that's how it will be until we can start winning and land big prospects. Cordarrelle and DJ Humphries are the big prospects this year, and we need 1 of them. 2 Would be heaven. 8 wins is a "good season." It's nothing special, but its where you want to be with a 3rd year head coach. Like I said, 8-9 wins is a good season. 10+ Is an great season. We took all those 8-4, 9-3 years for granted, and now we're struggling to reach 8. 9 wins is the goal for 2012. 8 is the minimum.

8 wins in 2012 and Dooley will be on the hot seat. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason we shouldn't be able to at least compete for the top spot in the east in 2012.

There is a reason, considering Florida and Georgia have been bringing better players into their programs. While I do agree, he will be on the hot seat, it wont be judgement year. 2013 Is, for me atleast.

This is just wrong. I don't think some of you get how depleted we still are in some important positions like D-Line and LB's. No way you can put CDD on the hot seat if we don't win 8. One of our best LB's is already out for the season and Smith is still recovering. Then you can have key injuries during the season to add the the depleted ranks. I hope we win 8 and think barring injuries we can obtain that goal and hope add a bowl win to that. JMO

Right on brother. I whole heartedly agree with this statement. As Coach Dooley said it, "Relentless pursuit for constant improvement." If he continues to recruit level headed, talented players, and keeps this mind set, we will be back on top. Just give it time. 2-3 mediocre seasons is a small price to pay when it comes to completely renovating a football team.

One thing im sure we can agree on, this is probably Dooley's most important year when it comes to the direction of the program. If we go 6-6 again, we don't have our guy, IMO, but im a Dooley supporter and hope he does well. Ive predicted 8-4 and i hope im correct on that.

The op was talking about 2012 not this year. If we only win 8 next year there will be alot of unhappy campers in volville and Dooley will be feeling some heat IMO. I know we all have our own expectations, some will be happily surprised, others will be disappointed...but if we only win 8 in 2012 i'll be in the disappointed camp...and I know full well what we're dealing with. :superman:

So what would your solution be if we win 8 games in 2012? Fire Dooley? I'm just curious.

Course not. I Like Dooley and how he runs the program. The only "solution" to my disappointment will be for me to get over it. But I'm optimistic I won't have to. :crossfingers:

Three recruiting classes in the fold and most of the players coming back. We should expect improvement.

Improved, yes, but not championship worthy.

Couch, Walls, Miller, Bohanon, and Smith on the front line.

Johnson, Maggit, and Harris will only be sophomores and one can only speculate that they will adjust quickly.

Then there are our current targets, who will only be freshmen in the SEC. Correct me if you think there is anyone I missed that will be a solid SEC caliber contributer, but championships aren't won with freshmen and sophomore defensive front sevens.

But our offense...

Will be sick nasty. That will be what wins us 8 or 9 games. I don't see it beating the best defenses if our own defense can't give then a fighting chance first.

Florida had a lot of young players on their championship teams. Alabama had a lot of young talent on their championship team. Talent+Coaching wins more often than not.

There will be plenty of other contributors than the ones you listed. Personally, I expect yearly improvement from players.

Neither UF nor UGA are going to be very good this year, at least that's my belief. UF could lose 4-6 games. If we beat UF at The Swamp and get on a roll, we have a chance to make the SECCG in a weak Eastern Division this season in the 9 win range.

After we add quality depth and guys like Cordarrelle, 2012 should be a BCS bowl game year, kind of like the year Arkansas had in 2010...minus the embarrassing OSU lost.

People expecting 9-10 wins & a SECCG appearance in '12 are going to be really disappointed IMO, & the '13 schedule is BRUTAL!! Folks need to start realizing this is a complete rebuilding job in the mist of one of the greatest runs for a conference & it will only get tougher.

In todays world w/ sports message boards, recruiting sites, national media coverage I'm afraid Dooley wont get the time needed to rebuild this program the right way, some folks are already yelling for Dooley to be fired I cant imagine how many more will pop up in the next 2-3 years if were not in the SECCG.

As do i. But you can't realistically expect that to happen with every player. And we still haven't ironed out our depth issues to make up for players not developing quickly or improving as much as we might have hoped.

Best assessment I've seen yet.

What makes you think the conference will get tougher? Nobody in the east looks like they're gonna be winning championships anytime soon and one of the two big dog coaches is gone.

Florida & UGA are going to be competitive almost year in & year out w/ the talent that is in each state, USCjr will continue to get better with Spurrier at the helm their recruiting has improved.

The East isnt like it use to be back in the 90's & early 00's when we basically only had to beat UF.

Throw in the West w/ Arkansas improving, LSU & Bama loaded w/ talent year in year out, Auburn loading up (as long as the NCAA doesnt hammer them), & Miss State making noise w/ Mullen one could argue this is the most competitive the SEC has been in sometime & it will only improve IMO.
