I keep reading where people think WR isn't a position of need. Its as big of a need as anything. Outside of Hunter and Rogers we don't know what we have at WR. We have 6 total schollys at WR. That's very low we desperately need bodies in case our young guys are hurt or don't work out.

I might not say as big a need as anything (see: defensive end), but I largely agree with this.

I would say that if your going to trust CDD and staff to evaluate talent...you can't just keep recruiting the same positions with the thinking that your young guys don't count. If you take 4-5 WRs every class...just because the 5 you got in the last class have not played yet..we will really suffer at other spots.

We have 7 WRs who should see a decent amount of playing time. We have 6 others who are listed at WR on the roster and who knows what they ever amount to. You could add DY to the numbers as I do think he will play in the slot at times. None of these guys are seniors and we have 2 commited as of now for this class(Both being larger guys with great speed). We will usually never have more than 3-4 on the field at a time. When you can put Arnett, Dallas, Hunter, and Rogers out there at one time..I just don't see where WR is even close to the need other positions are. JMO

Dallas and Arnett have proven nothing at all. Hunter and Rogers have to prove they can handle the load all season. We're talented but very unproven. Plus if something were to happen to one of our top guys can we really count on those two slot type guys to pick up the slack? Patterson is a need in this class.

Patterson is a need based upon the simple fact that having him, Rogers and Hunter in a multiple wide set would be nearly impossible to stop.

He is a need because he is freakishly talented. Pretty simple.

Sounds like it would be fun to watch.

I agree. We need Patterson, but to think that WR is a position of dire need is laughable. I think we also need Croom.

My thing is Hunter, Rogers and Patterson could all be gone their JR years and that will kill us at WR if it happens. WR is a need and if they don't leave then great.

A QB like Bray.... dropping back behind a line like we will have...throwing to Hunter, Rogers or Patterson....ridiculous...

A highly skilled QB having all day to throw to 3 unguardable WR's...I think I just sharted

Why is it laughable? What happens when Patterson comes in and plays 1 year and Hunter and Rogers eave too. Its very possible. The coach's know what they need than any of us and for people to question what the coach's do is VERY laughable. Just don't understand posters who know zero question who or how many the bring it. Its pretty hilarious.

Not to mention having an underrated (imo) back like Marlin Lane to mix things up. The offense could be phenomenal.

In reference to the post about them leaving after their Junior year, I seriously doubt more than 1 of the 3 would go pro early. Stallworth and Washington were absolutely nasty their Junior years and Donte was the only one who went pro. If only that had worked out better...

What also is laughable is folks like you assuming noone knows anything about our recruiting enough to see what our real positions of need are. Anyone with a pair of eyes, or even a single eye (looking at you cyclops) can tell we are loaded at WR. Glad I could get you to laugh btw, guess I owed you since you have given me plenty to chuckle about.

We're not loaded anywhere. We have a bunch of freshmen and sophomores who haven't proven anything.

They kinda proved they were good enough to play with the best teams in the SEC and if they learn to not make foolish mistakes... just maybe beat them.

That's more than a bunch of underclassmen who haven't proven anything.

Lol loaded? How many combined catches do our receivers have combined? Didn't mean to hurt your feelings but if we were loaded we wouldn't be taking 4 possibly in this class. Just saying who are you or anybody to question the coach's? I mean if this is your talent get into coaching. Apply for a GA I'm sure Dooley needs guys with more knowledge of Hopson team than him and his Coach's. An injury or 2,suspension, not catching on or not showing the talent it takes to play is possible plus the chances of those 3 leaving will leave us depleated. DD I'm sure realizes this And is why he's recruiting what he is. Don't get upset or get offended ot is what it is buddy.

+1..agree 1000% and said the dame thing. I know alot of people want to know more than our staff, but its ok to not. Its what they get paid to do and are good at it. And hope like hell they all stay till they graduate and all become all Americans. We just don't know yet. But there is alot of talent and potential.

So you feel Hunter and Rogers have not proven themselves yet...but in the same post you talk about them leaving early and how we should prepare for it. If you feel we need to stockpile WRs to replace 2 guys headed for the NFL early with 40 career catches between them...it is YOU who needs to let our coaches coach and stop trying to give your reasons we need 6 WRs in this class. JMO

I was talking about the rest that havent proven a thing. Outside of those 2 we have zero knowledge of how the others will be, I said 4 anyway not 6 special Ed. Listen my man I know it makes you mfeel good to read and critique everyones thread and find a reason to disagree, but your better than that. My point being if the Coach's think we need 4 there is a reason and because you disagree with the coach's means nothing.
