Smokey has inspired me to make my first post... Gotta love the enthusiasm, even if it is redundant. I didn't know the NFL "recruits" college players, though.

He's going to wait until after the season is over to make his decision. The BBQ was his chance to meet all the incoming recruits, see the stadium, and get a feel for the coaches. You know everyone was on him hard to commit, but he's just not ready yet. UM has 4 DE, 4 LB and 1 DT committed so far for 2012 class, and 21 total. I don't see them taking 2 more DT's like what's been said. They have 7 DT's and 8 DE's on the roster this year. Ash was recruited by Kiffin and he's a RSFROSH.An incoming FR LB and an OL were dismissed in July, that may opened up schollies next year. Richards, Ash and Campbell will provide some depth for them. People say we are hurting on the DL and we are. Hurting for talent but not bodies. Jackson, Saulsberry, Jeffery, Clark, Fowlkes (DE maybe), Miller, Hood, Carson, and Ayres. Walls has played both, but may play DE. Most of these guys aren't proven, and Pipkins is a major upgrade for the DT position. Pipkin likes UM and that's obvious. His Dad feels comfortable with what UM is offering and their direction. Pipkin listened to the recruits at the BBQ, but isn't showing his hand one way or the other.

I know ND and Michigan just dropped their recruitment of Schutt. I know Michigan is taking one DT. Pipkins isn't ready. He's listening to Mich, Ok, UF, Mizz, and UT. We know Mich, and UT are his tops, but he's still entertaining others. First and foremost, the staff HAS to get him on campus ASAP. He's seen Mich, MSU, etc, so it's a must to get him here. He doesn't seem like he's in a rush. So, that bides well for the staff on getting him here. It may be too late for the summer, but definitely on a OV. But, the way the staff likes to get recruits here after the season is over, may be too late for this guy. The bye week is 24 September after the UF game. That may be a good time to get some visits in. Michigan is feeling real good about someone. Schutt's offer was pulled. The two top DL on their lists are Pip and O'Brien. Spaces are running out, and it's forcing some to commit. The Michigan staff is telling Pip to take his time, but Schutt gets his offer pulled. Something isn't right, but I would be leaning toward O'Brien.

Of the two DT's Michigan is interested in Pipkins is a lot closer to committing, I don't think O'Brien is even close at this point

Not sure why UM pulled Schutt's offer although it may have to do w/ the uptick in his interest in Wisc and PSU OR it could be that Sh*ttu is close to committing---not a shocker.
Valentine is leaning towards NEB
Kirven is wavering, but in the end I think VT

DT's in play:
Atkins
O'Brien
Pipkins
Tomlinson had a good visit and it's not beyond reason that he could become a Vol.

I like where we currently sit w/ these four.

I don't think so. That's why its important to get him on the used before he relishes in the UM BBQ hype. He has spent time with the staff there. His Dad likes where the program is headed. We have to get him on campus so he can get a taste of southern hospitality, get comfortable with the staff and see how they run the program. We really news this guy. He's a 1 tech that we need for the 3-4.

These guys need to realize that TN is a great opportunity to shine in the best conference in the NCAA and they are the missing link to an awesome defense in the next 2 years. Great opportunity to get in the limelight.

We are stacked everywhere else.
