I'm sure you're aware of the moniker that follows a lot of the DZs.

I too had Mono second semester of Freshman year. I had to withdraw from all my classes, and was ordered not to leave the house for anything other than doctors visits. My spleen was enlarged to twice its normal size, and my doctor said any type of traffic accident or any other type of trauma would certainly cause my spleen to rupture.

I had mono three times no one ever mentioned a spleen problem and the word was never brought up. Can anyone tell me more about it.

I have never seen a kid sidelined for 6 months post mono, with fear of spleen rupture.

I'm sure it has been done though.

I had it as a kid. My spleen was swollen pretty big & I climbed on the cabinet to get something out the shelf, and jumped off onto the floor. My mother heard me hit the floor and almost had a heart attack. She probably would have beat me for what I did if my spleen hadn't been swollen. The spleen busts and you will die of poisoning before you could get to the hospital probably.

If your spleen ruptures, you bleed to death inside. Very quickly. Not poisoning. Spleen stores platelets and white blood cells too. Large amount of blood vessels.

Not necessarily. I walked around 2 days and even went to work with a ruptured spleen. Granted I felt like I was dieing.

Had it my junior year of HS. It's not just the spleen thing it's swollen tonsils also I lost 20 lbs. Man it sucked.

There are grades and levels of splenic laceration.


Lets talk football...anyone know how Hill was doing?

Bourque doesn't know how to lower his pad level yet. While that's fixable, it takes time, so I could see him getting redshirted. Hill seems further along, though he has less potential, IMO.
