I don't recall any starting TB that size that runs over a 4.5 in a few years.

The best days of LB at UT in the past 15 yrs were when HS RB's came in and played LB.

Our best LB coming in this year may be Vereen when it's said and done.

Arian was right around that size. Anthony Dixon at MSU. Stevan Ridley at LSU. Ben Tate was 6 ft 220 lbs.

Under Chavis it was. It's hard to say if Wilcox wants that.

I want Vereen to go out with a big senior year, but he has done absolutely nothing in his career to suggest he's going to be anything more than a plug in at LB.

One key thing from the VQ article is that coaches said there was one spot open, and he said he committed immediately. Kinda makes you wonder if we were really hard after a speed back after all with us taking Cross and Hill (Cross will stick with Vols IMO).

Great pickup IMO. Kid looks like the take his lunch pail to work and earn it kinda guy. I see alot of people saying that just because Hill commited does not mean Cross is gone. This could be very much true. They could be on their way to taking 4 RBs. They could also be helping Cross with his decision to make the call to UVA. If they keep them both....I see no problem with having 2 big backs to beat on teams late in games. Another possibility is the staff likes what they have in Neal, Lane, Smith, DY..add the 2 big backs and maybe they are done at RB for this class. Alot of scenarios still to play out.

What have you done with PaceFLVol?

Alden said that coaches told him only one spot left so he committed. Found that interesting.

Not always big on under the radar recruits, but Dooley might have found one here. Have never seen a recruiting video with more big runs. His stats back up it up too. He gets to the endzone. Power, speed, big numbers, not sure why he is a just a 3* (2* ESPN).

With Brown, Mathers, and Norfleet still on the board? After the Keyante Green comment, it does make you wonder about silents.

Because we are in the age where combine numbers mean everything rather than production. Sorry but when a kid is 230 and runs a 4.6 electric time, that is damn amazing.

Maybe Keyante's statement was right. We could be taking 4 RBs???

Everyone's assuming that this means Cross is gone, even though we have a RB recruit claiming that the coaches want four backs in this class. We're all assuming this because we don't think we have enough spots for 4 RBs.

I'd like to take everyone back to late last year, when we had commitments from Randolph, Martin, and Coleman and were pushing hard for Thomas, Moore, Lanier, and Orta (we'll ignore Loften). Everybody said we'd take 5 DBs. Some said we might take 6, even though it seemed crazy. But the coaches kept acting like they might do the unthinkable and take 6. They took 7. Obviously, they didn't like the DB situation and wanted it shored up fast.

Well, we're hearing rumblings and seeing actions that say the coaches don't like the RB situation and want a huge influx of talent there. 4 seems like way too many to me too, but it's not like we've never done this kind of thing before. It's certainly in the realm of possibility.

edit: But if the coaches told him there's only one spot left. . . unless there are silents, the coaches and Hill or Green got their wires crossed somehow.

Another thing to consider is with Green saying he had no intentions of commiting before next summer....maybe the staff said it was not worth the risk to base this class on what Green does. Maybe they like the 2 backs they got...maybe a silent...and if not, they will recruit Green into next year and see what happens. We could always take 2-3 backs next year. If Green does not like it and was set on being the lone guy in next years class....I guess he should have commited and showed CDD he liked the offer that was laid out to him. JMO

Your analysis is WAY off on this one.

I think all of us who like to think we know what talent is and are way off most of the time. Most on here said Kimbrow was #1 on the board. He Picked Vandy and then most said that is fine because Cross was #1 on the board. Cross is up in the air now and I would bet within a week another RB may be the new #1 on the board. We are all guessing and or claiming sources that mean little. I seriously doubt anyone has seen the clipboard and or board in CDD office showing who is actually #1 on their board. Ohio produces some pretty good talent. Hill is breaking records all over the state...I see him as a solid pick up.
