'12 TN ATH Will Redmond (MSU verbal commit)

He is visiting Vandy on the 20th and UT on the 27th. Not just MSU and Notre Dame.

Actually he is not even sure he will visit Notre Dame. That info above is ****

The reason Redmond isn't fond of Tennessee is last summer when him and Kimbrow camped there. They wouldn't offer Redmond because he had an injury and couldn't run the 40. Terry Joseph then told him to drive back from Memphis and run a 40 and they may offer. Redmond never went back, but Joseph finally decided to offer after some other schools jumped on board. Redmond loves Miss State and it will be hard to get him to switch.

I personally had a private conversation with Devinner and he isn't steering kids from UT.

Will is making his own decision

Vols fans say that as an excuse to make themselves feel better when a Kimbrow or Redmond choose another school

I think that as a fanbase we have been reduced to excuses. Watching Bama win last night did nothing to improve my mood or opinion. This program needs to "spend money to make money." Sorry to be a nega-Vol. I'll hit the reset button now.

Agreed. Until they put up elite $$$'s they get what they deserve. Sure Saban makes a ton but his results and revenue his success has brought in for Alabama have far exceeded his salary. This University needs to start acting like a big boy to be a big boy.

His salary at Bama is a drop in the bucket compared to the revenue he generates for the University. I can't stand the feeling that we are, in my words "cheaping everything to death."

I don't disagree with your premise but Saban was worth that money when he signed because he was a proven commodity. When we open up the big orange check book the next time we hire a coach, assuming we actually really get into the coaching arms race, whose name is on the check that would be anywhere near that level?

I am glad you are not in charge of any of my savings. Close to 95%of people who throw money at anything, lose their money.

Cool. I guess all the money that Saban and Meyer are commanding now is a waste and that sound finanical planning is equivalent to hiring coaches.

I understand. I wouldn't pay a lot out for someone who isn't worth it. All I know is that UT should pay a proven commodity. It's working elsewhere. I don't understand why people assume it won't work here too.

I don't believe that for a second, considering the vice president of his organization goes on twitter, bashes UT, accuses UT of NCAA violations, and tweets recruits saying that our coaches offer $$$. Add that to his constant pumping up of Franklin and one gets suspicious. DeVinner isn't as bad himself, but he isn't exactly encouraging kids to go to UT. Although he did say a few days ago in response to a Rucker article that there was "no chance" Redmond would be coming to Tenn. And there's the whole "Joseph isn't black enough" incident. Just suspicious. That's all.

And Jay, I'm not saying it was the reason. I just don't think this guy is the biggest UT fan out there.

It's cool. I can't make you believe me. One quote from our conversation..."If I'm going to push a kid to a school, you think it would be Vanderbilt?"

I believe you, but I've heard way too many negative things about him to not be a bit wary. Doesn't really matter too much anyway.
