'12 TN ATH Will Redmond (MSU verbal commit)

I understand. I wouldn't pay a lot out for someone who isn't worth it. All I know is that UT should pay a proven commodity. It's working elsewhere. I don't understand why people assume it won't work here too.

Again, I don't disagree and I think it would definitely work here if Nick Saban decided to head to the hill. That ain't happening. So after that a) who is on that short list? b) and who from that list would leave the current situation to come here?

Trust me, I'm not just trying to be argumentative or campaigning for our current situation. It's just when I hear about people saying we need to step up and open the coffers, I'm always curious who they (realistically) have in mind.

People always have opinions of who they think will do well but never have a proven commodity that's ever going to actually coach here (gruden, stoops, etc.)

I don't have an exact name for you but there are several folks who couldn't turn down 7 million a year and that's what this program needs to pony up and pay a coach. This program can afford it and the fanbase has been through a lot. Just the buzz and the bump in season ticket sales could help justify the cause.

Yes, that is what he told reporters. It is not quite 100%. He "might" visit. Either way its a very long shot.

Link?

According to his Bulldog Sports Radio interview he said that he is finished with recruiting and wont take any more visits. He said that his visit to Mississippi State this past weekend solidified his choice.

I'm just letting you guys know what came straight from his mouth in an interview, and I HIGHLY doubt that he visits anywhere else. FWIW he wasn't even going to visit Tennessee it was going to be Ohio State and Miami.

I wish this kid nothing but the best but I've never been to a worse place than Starkville. I just don't see why anyone, athlete or non-athlete would want to go there.

I've lived in middle Tennessee now for 12 years now, so there is NO WAY I would consider going to Starkville, if I had the chance now (and I was 18). But being from west Tennessee originally, I can tell you that Mississippi St. wouldn't seem that bad at all. All about perspective I guess.

I am from Memphis originally and have lived in Chattanooga since '98. Even being from Memphis I still don't see Starkville as good.

When may I ask was the last time you were in Starkville? The city has changed dramatically in the 8 years since I graduated from State. It's a ton better now, more bars, nicer downtown, just more to do. They have a great mayor who is doing great things in Starkville.

Also, Redmond wanted to be closer to his family and Memphis is only a little over 2 hours away

When I went to Starkville, about 2 years ago, just turned 16 at the time.. I didn't enjoy it. Maybe that I'm almost 18 now, I may enjoy it. Who knows.
