12 TN RB I'tavius Mathers

I mean, he played some tough teams this year, and ran straight through them. (Riverdale, Brentwood, Franklin). And he brought Blackman back into it with a huge TD run against Oakland, who was undefeated at the time.

Only problem with him for next year is his O-line will be severely under sized, which could drop his production.

He has most of the Oline back next year. I would think he should have another good year. Also QB is back. I believe they lose 2 lineman but the other 3 are back.

Two best lineman are gone. They struggled against the lines with size, like Smyrna. Hopefully it isn't as big of a problem as I see it being.

Tennessee is only going to take elite caliber RB's next year IMO. Kimbrow for sure is one, if he even ends up at RB in college, and the other will likely be a national guy IMO.

Hearing whispers that Kentucky has started to evaluate him, and will be entering the fray soon. Don't be surprised if they extend an offer.

I hope if he goes to SEC school other than us its Kensucky or Vandy, where his skills will never reach their full potential.

IMO he is an elite caliber running back.

Yeah, I think he's a bit under-rated. I like the fact that both he and Kimbrow play in pro-style offenses. Mathers has better vision IMO and has deceptive speed. Kimbrow on the other hand... GOODNESS boy can run. If it comes to he and Kimbrow, I think we gotta go with Kimbrow. JMHO, but that kind of speed is hard to come by.

He IS elite caliber. That's why he's underrated here.

I think some people are blinded by Kimbrow's speed. He is fast as lightning and if this were a track recruiting forum, I would agree with Kimbrow but this is football and Mathers is a football player. He was never caught from behind all year so his speed is plenty good. He has great vision and instincts. I'll take Mathers for a football game. I would like to have both of them though. Kimbrow is obviously a great player to.

I think we could take Kimbrow, Mathers, and Robinson and call it a day in the ole' RB department. You get the speedster, all-around guy, and bruiser in one class.

We definitely need Kimbrow, but Mathers is just as good. His speed is better than the tape shows, and he's got great power and vision. He could be a good SEC back.

This is what I posted:
I'Tavius Mathers is my must have player for next year. I may change my mind as the fall football games kick in.

Tennessee Gatorade player of the year as a junior. Lets not let this guy go to the GUMPS!!

Google his name and you see things like this

Check out the MAXpreps link. It gives you yards and SOS. Notice he is has more yards against an equal SOS of one highly ranked Texas recruit.

I believe what I said in the old post OFFER THIS KID TODAY or the GUMPS will come calling first.

They aren't going to take all three of those guys in the same class. Kimbrow for sure and then maybe someone like Robinson. They are going to go after national running backs, not 3 guys from Tennessee.

Duke and Vandy, right now. It amazes me how he doesn't have more offers. I do know he's getting quite a bit of mail from Michigan and Notre Dame.

Don't forget the Swordsmen of UVA and the Winged Lightning Horses of MTSU. They have offered him as well.

I only think we are going to take 1 RB this class. Unless Tom Smith and Marlin Lane show no promise we will take 2. Kimbrow has to be tops of the list. I also expect us to get on some 5 star RB's to. If Mathers get an offer it wont be until late IMO. This is a class we can be a little more picky on.

Exactly!

Mathers is a Vandy/KY/MTSU talent.

I actually disagree, but respect your take on things. I think Mathers is an EXTREMELY talented back. I think his vision is really good and his speed is a bit under-rated. He might not light up the stopwatch, but has REALLY good game speed. Problem is, there will be quite a few backs like him from all over, and MANY of them will be bigger with the same speed and same skillset. He kind of reminds me of Justice Hayes.

As for Kimbrow, he is just so fast. I mean DUDE IS FAAAAAST! His vision/cutback ability IMO isn't QUITE as good as Mathers', but he's very skilled. And kid is one of the fastest backs in the nation, and he's from Tennessee. If he want's to be a Vol..WE MUST TAKE HIM. JMHO.

Kimbrow is target 1a for the state. Hell, maybe even the country. Maybe a DT could top him, but Kimbrow and Bowles are about as high on our board as they can get.

I agree. But Mathers is better than MTSU/KY/Vandy IMO. But No way in hell he's a better prospect than Kimbrow IMO
