'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

It has been awfully quiet regarding the recruiting experts on Henry... Usually they are giving us good info at this point. Wonder what is going on?

Vol fans are the most confusing bunch. I'd be happy with any of Henry, Green, or Turman. We need a running back. Beggars can't be choosers.

It's the weirdest thing, isn't it? One of the best RB's in HS football is about to announce his decision tomorrow, between Alabama and UT, and all of a sudden he's not good enough and we're holding out for something better?

Is this real life?

I qualified my post with, "If it meant losing Green."

How is that hard to understand? I think Green is a much better RB.

I'd take Henry in a heartbeat. But I don't think he's a RB at the next level.

Wasn't directly talking to you. A lot of people are being picky about the running backs we're in it for.

That's bs. No one knows that, it's just speculation. He's played one position since he was 5yo...RB. And so what if he does end up at H-back or LB in college, UT can't use one of those? The kid is 6'3" 243lbs and runs a sub 4.5 40yd dash. He'd be one of the best athletes on UT's roster day 1. You don't want him? I do.

Good points Ron.

Another aspect that seem to be getting lost in the Herny/Green debate is that a commit from either is exactly the type of spark that Dooley & his staff need to build momentum.

If we land one 5 star, there may be more to follow.

And I forgot to say I want both Henry & Green, but getting a commit from either one is HUGE for the Vols.

I really hope we get Henry tomorrow.

The talking heads at ESPN were saying today that Henry was a little too tall to be a great college running back. Said he could get away with the RB position in High School, but it wouldn't work out as well at the next level. Just passing that on.

Brandon Jacobs, Le'veon Bell, Larry Johnson (reaching, but still), etc. The thing is, most guys that big aren't that athletic, so naturally, they wouldn't be able to play running back.

In the TN fanbase?

You really have to ask?

I think it has to do with sweet lemons, sour grapes, and anticipatory rationalization, which means at least on these boards we're mostly just a bunch of psychos.

I hope he's a VOL! I hope DG is a VOL! I hope Turman is a VOL! I will be happy with any or all, preferably all.

Remember fellow psychos, Greed is Good!

Derrick Henry has rushed for more yards than ANYONE EVER in FL high school football. Anyone. Ever. And he still has about 2/3 of his senior season to go. In fact, last week he rushed for over 500 yards in one game. I don't care if his competition isn't the best in the state. It's still HS FB in the state of FL and he's dominating. Oh and a guy named Saban reallllly wants this kid to be in his backfield. This Saban fellow has a pretty decent track record with RB's, IIRC. So this idea that "I saw a few minutes of film and didn't like his upright running style" is absurd. We're all entitled to our opinions on this board but some of these posts are unreal. Unreal.

Eddie George had an upright running style.

As did Gayle Sayers.

As did Eric Dickerson.
