'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

The poster on VQ who shared info after being at Henry's game last week is still saying Vol. This poster is also a UF fan who opened his account this month. He's either a very respectful troll and getting his kicks out of giving Vol fans false hope OR he's a family member/close friend of Henry. He said he'll reveal some more info after the announcement which makes me think (if he's telling the truth) that he's a family member. Because didn't Henry grow up a gator fan? Which means his family likely is as well.

Anyway, not trying to give anyone false hope here just sharing this info. This poster signed up a month ago (paying $) and has only posted about Henry from what I can tell.

Here's his latest posts from this morning...

Henry was committed to Georgia for a long time and was actually trying to recruit other players to UGa before he backed out of committment. He has not tried to recruit players to Bama (Saban does not need the help) but you and the other naysayers will learn his decision soon enough.

If you heard Henry during his interview yesterday he made it clear that he is not afraid of competition so the fact UT is recruiting Green will not deter him from signing with UT. I cannot say that Green is not a better back than Henry because I have not personally seen Green play, but if he is, Green has to be one heck of a back. I doubt he is better.

Yes Rooster-Henry to UT.

Actually I disagree with your assessment of winning the big game when recruits are in town. Coaching stability is a huge factor but the fact a team wins or loses a particular game usually is not a deciding factor. They typically consider the overall visit and how comfortable they felt with the campus and staff.

This guy is either going to be exposed as a time wasting troll or become a hero on VQ and possibly VN...we'll see this afternoon!

Odd, wouldn't think a troll would purchase a subscription just to get a rise out of VOL fans. Who knows though. Makes things a tad bit more interesting.

Maybe the reason the Bama coaches are going to his game is to try to amp the pressure on him to go with the Tide. It'll take balls for him to reveal his true colors (ORANGE!) with them planning on being there.

DH come on down! You're the next commitment on VFL!!

:)

no offense to Mr. Swanson but there always seems to be an insider calling for the surprise and when that doesn't come to fruition they fade away...

Henry has been recruiting already and already said in an interview he will be the biggest recruiter for the class he joins. UA is currently tied with UGA for Tunsil, according to Tunsil this week. Mainly because of Henry and them 2 saying they want to play together. Also I believe Henry helped get Walker onboard. UF was the team to beat ask HG but a few weeks prior to his announcement Henry and Walker started hanging out. Just saying.

Oh I know. I'm not saying I believe the poster or than anyone else should. I'm just sharing info.

Henry is a game changer and just the type of back needed. More recruits like this young man and TN will sloberknocker with the best of em. Can't wait to have Henry in orange and yes I am assuming the most positive outcome of his recruitment.

Unless you are good at doing it. Saban is usually the most predictable coach on plays regarding offense. Very seldom does he use trick plays. For UA under Saban it is always about can the other team stop UA.

If you the players to perform the call or in the case play under center and use a FB it is the other team that has to stop them. It now comes down to talent.

This was Lombardi's philosophy.. Vince practically told you what he was going to run and dared you to 'out execute' his players.. It was all about discipline and simplicity.. IMO many coaches now days get to cute for their own good...

Saban reminds me of Lombardi.. He KNOWS what he wants to do.. He gets the players best suited to do it, installs unflinching discipline in those players and doesn't deviate from the plan.. There is no mystery in what he does.. He's just bull headed about doing it and doesnt panic if things go south for a bit.. He loses one from time to time but wins most of them..

Henry at UT... starts first game at RB... gets 25+ carries a game.

Henry at Bama... 3rd rotation LB... gets special team reps.

no brainer... vol imo.

That may be true, but both have their own disadvantages, too. Using a FB telegraphs where you are going with the ball, and taking snaps under center means you lose precious seconds when you pass (during the 3-7 step drops). Plus the QB has his back turned to the defense on a play-action.

On the long bomb to Z.Rodgers, we ran out of the Pistol. I like it. Chaney had Rivera lined up as the H-Back, so it's a good option to turn to from time to time. No reason to scrap it.

:good!:

That's bs. No one knows that, it's just speculation. He's played one position since he was 5yo...RB. And so what if he does end up at H-back or LB in college, UT can't use one of those? The kid is 6'3" 243lbs and runs a sub 4.5 40yd dash. He'd be one of the best athletes on UT's roster day 1. You don't want him? I do.

This. He would probably be our most versatile guy from day 1.

1. As a tailback, he could
a.) Run the ball
b.) Catch out of the backfield
c.) Block on pass plays
2. As a fullback, he could
a.) Be lead blocker on run plays
b.) Block on pass plays
c.) Catch out of the backfield
d.) Run from the fullback spot
3. As a tight end, he could
a.) Block
c.) Catch
4. As a Tennessee Vol, he could
a.) Help the team win
b.) Help restore the program to prominence
c.) Be appreciated and admired by a fanbase that is hungry for something to cheer for
d.) Be one of our best players of the young century at least, if he works hard
e.) Get to the league
f.) Go Beast Mode!

Edit: but if, as we all expect, he doesn't come here, we will all wish him the best, and be waiting for the moment when Big Dan meets him over the middle.
