'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

:banghead2:I dont blame him when Nick walks in to his living room and said come to Bama and we will make you 10 million in 3 years what would you say, think about it what could we offer him.

Being better than 2010 Vols does not equal loaded.

Second: They weren't more talented than that roster. 2010 was easily Dooleys best recruiting class.

Roster and Recruiting Class is not the same thing.

My point was that true freshmen playing was not the main reason 2008 Alabama team won SEC West.

True freshmen & sophomores are not the main reason 2009 Alabama team won the National Championship.

Gotcha. Just saying, Sabans roster was not loaded when he got there. It was loaded after he started bringing in top 5 recruiting classes every year.

OW I agree.

The most obvious thing people are missing is the progress in recruiting from the 2010 season until now.

In 2010, big name recruits like Derrick Henry were not taking official visits to Knoxville.

In 2012, it seems to be very common for high profile recruits to take official visits to Tennessee.

Everybody just chill out and let CDD finish what he started.

It's not CDD's fault we sucked in '08 & '09.

And the Saban comparison is played out - Bama was LOADED with talent when Saban got there in 2007 and he still went 6-7 including a loss to Louisiana Monroe.

OK I will bite.

Saban arrived in 2007. Now he finsihed the 2007 recruiting class off strong but the 2003(5th year seniors) - to the 2006 recruiting class was the talent he inherited to start the 2007 season.

2003 class ranked 49th
2004 class ranked 24th
2005 class ranked 18th
2006 class ranked 11th

out of those 4 classes only 25% were 4* or higher(only 2 5*)

out of those 4 classes 16% were only 2*

Also UA finished the season 7-6 not 6-7, but 2 years later with NCAA sanctions all wins except 2 were vacated UT and Colorado:hi:

You're right, but everyone knows that the Tennessee job is very difficult because we must recruit mostly out-of-state talent to compete.

Once the ball is rolling, the momentum from winning make this a great job, but let's face it: rebuilding at Tennessee is not an overnight fix.

Not sure how long it would've taken Saban to have similar kind of success in Knoxville.

We miss on henry and taylor and they both are going to our rivals, and i will be honest they both look real, real, good. They both have over a hundred yds at halftime. Think that henry has close to 175 yds and 2 td's.

We need to land a big-time back like one of these kids, and hopefully we get MR.GREEN NOW!

Thank you.

What a stupid argument. No one said it was easy. The point is that we could have got these recruiting classes with Elmer Fudd as our coach.
Elite coaches are master recruiters, brilliant game planners, and out coach their opponents whether its pre game planning or in game adjustments.
Dooley has shown absolutely zero ability to do any of these.

Accusing a poster of a stupid argument then making a stupid comment yourself. Last I checked all 3 of Dooley's recruiting classes have been top 20 classes, 2 of which top 15. I guess Elmer Fudd is a solid recruiter.

The main difference in my opinion is Saban came to UA to replace Shula who was hired in 2003 and so was the coach for 4 years. Dooley came in after Fulmer and Kiffin both left in what 2 years. Saban only had to deal with players that learned one formation where Dooley had players from 2 different style of play.

Also alot of people fail to look at the staff Saban brought with him to UA when he came. Where Dooley is just now getting the staff he needs in place. Recruiting high ranked players is great but the staff is key in developing them.

Well, my point was that any coach could pull in a top 20 class to UT with what it has to offer. Unfortunately, we play in the SEC. Those classes don't even break the top 5 of the conference. The current class isn't even on the top 20.

Oh but just wait til we start winning right?

One key point you missed is the OC changes at Tennessee prior to HC changes

2005 OC Sanders
2006 OC Cutcliffe
2007 OC Cutcliffe
2008 OC Clawson
2009 OC Chaney

4 OCs in 5 years made the transition that much harder for Dooley and the players that had been through all of the coaching changes - especially all the changes in assistant coaches

This guy will not play RB in college. He is putting up numbers against kids half his size. He runs that high in college he will get killed.

He's going to Alabama. Every one of their 5 star recruits turns out to be a top 10 pick. Unlike ours, who usually end up in JC.

35 to 7 and 3 minuts left against back ups and inferior 2a team. Not really impressed with that aspect of the coaching etc. He is good but you should be when you are the biggest kid on the field. Just like midget football. The fastest and biggest stand out. But the game will be a big change if he stays at rb and I do not think he is going to like the difference then.

He'll usually be the biggest in college too. He's a beast.

Funny thing is, Dooley has the 3 highest consecutive ranked classes in the last decade. All while we have won 23 games in 5 years. You would have to be blind as a bat not to see a recruiting knack in Dooley.

You know why the current class is not in the top 20? What do you see all the time in the media, hot seat reporting. What do coaches tell recruits? These recruits and families like Dooley, they want to play for him. You are seeing a low class because no top kid is going to want to sign with a school, only for the coach they committed too to be fired. Then you walk into a situation of unknown.

So yes, if we start winning this year, you will see a pick up in recruiting.

Some of you slay me. Like there was a chance that he would choose us. Its been Bama for a long while now.

Some on here thought i was trolling when I said the kid was a silent before decommitting from UGA months ago. UT gave him something to think about to make it interesting though. UT should still end up with a very good back.

I said tremendous, not US New #1. It was an accurate statement. Sorry for your comment being an improper douchy ignorant statement. Hope it doesn't reflect the person making it... who knows?

Guess we just differ on the definition of "tremendous". Being in the bottom half of the SEC in football is one thing, but a business school that ranks in the bottom half of the SEC does not exactly scream "tremendous" to me. Nice use of the word "douchy" - showin' off the ol' education again, aren't you? :salute:
