'13 GA CB Shaq Wiggins (Transferring to UT)

Had Tennessee not had a mass exodus of coaches following the 2011 season, the nation's 36th overall prospect could easily see himself draped in orange one day.

“It was Tennessee, Virginia and Michigan,” he said of his leaders earlier this year. “If Coach (Lance) Thompson had stayed here, I'd probably be committed right now.”

“It was real good,” Wiggins said Tuesday of the visit. “The coaches were real cool. Working with Coach D.A., you can tell he knows his stuff.”

Wiggins, who plays at Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek, maintains that he is still a solid to commitment to Georgia, but he wanted to check out Knoxville, which he called an exciting place.

“Just coming back and taking a couple of more looks at Tennessee and the new coaching staff, to see what they're like,”

Georgia, Florida, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Tennessee and Ole Miss are the most likely destinations- ESPN

Edit: Kind of surprised by this quote: Wiggins has two good friends on Tennessee's roster: receiver Da'Rick Rogers and tailback Rajion Neal. He said Rogers gave the Vols glowing reviews.

“It's a good place to be and the people around you are very good and they want you to be here for the right reasons,” Wiggins said, recalling what Rogers told him.

Just read an article that was posted on 247 about 30 minutes ago, oddly it almost looks like it was plagiarized from Hooker's ESPN article. It has almost all the same exact quotes too.

So before anybody asks, there's basically nothing new in the 247 article.

"It was Tennessee, Virginia and Michigan. Probably, if coach Thompson would have stayed here I would have probably committed," Wiggins said.

"Early on in my football career Tennessee was my first SEC offer. When coach Joseph and coach Thompson were here I was really considering Tennessee very hard. I was close to committing," Wiggins said. "By the time I almost committed coach Joseph and coach Thompson left and went to Nebraska and 'Bama (respectively). I kind of lost touch with Tennessee and coach (Derek) Dooley got in touch with me during spring and coach (Derrick Ansley) came down to see me."

"I'd say it's probably better coaching. I talked to some of the players and coach (Ansley), the new cornerbacks coach, I talked to him for a while and got to work out with him and he seems like a real good guy who knows how to coach," Wiggins said. "It was real good. The coaches were cool. Just working out with (Ansley) you could tell he knows his stuff. Coming from Alabama and learning from coach (Nick) Saban, I actually learned something."

I talked to a former db from the late 90's last year and he couldn't shut up about how terrible the secondary coaching was.

I was trying to give him a pass because of the youth in the secondary then I went back and watched some old games. He couldn't even get the safeties lined up right.

You almost have to forget about every players inability last year in the secondary because the coaching was very subpar. I think Teague, Moore, and Coleman will be much improved this year.

I expect Coleman to make an improvement like Joe Haden did in his second year. Not saying he's the same type of player but I think he can improve that much in his second year.

If he does, our secondary will surprise some people this year. In fact, our entire defense could with better than average line play.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but wouldn't you expect "quotes" to be accurate and exactly the same in both articles. Plagiarism charge seems baseless.

Coaching should be better just because the coverage is better with dedicated corner and safety coaches, in addition to better quality coaches.

I could be wrong, but I really believe the big turnover of coaches was because they were encouraged not to return and not just because they went to greener pastures. The original staff was hurriedly constructed and DD now has the people he believes will be much improved.

I'm with you there. I think he takes a BIG step forward this year. Getting him experience last year is going to really pay off IMO.

If UT was his favorite, the coaching staff was upgraded, then why is this kid going to Georgia? I'm not familar with him but does anyone see him coming here?

Probably the same reason many recruits who like UT aren't picking us..

IMO the coaches should've kept playing the kid. He showed improvement throughout the year. Didn't gain anything by playing Teague ahead of him. Coleman made some good one on one tackles in the Arkansas game on RBs.

I just don't see CDD recruiting someone like this as hard as some others... He's just not the size CDD likes
